BFG Tires Cracking

I have a 2007 screw with the factory BFG Rugged Trail tires. They have 25,000 miles on them and have a lot of tread left. Problem is that they are cracking on the sidewalks near the tread. I spoke to BFG and they told me to take it to an authorized dealer which happened to be the local Ford dealership. The dealership contacted Ford and they agreed to pay 30% but they have to be purchased through them at $240 a tire. Now I know I can get them cheaper but the factory ones still have great tread left. Anyone had this problem before or any suggestions?

Mine too ar cracking on the sidewall and even in between the treads. They have been doing it since about 20k. They still have decent tread on em to. Coincendently I to have a 07 screw. 32k on it now. Wonder if its a bad batch of tires?

Just out of curiosity, what size wheels do you have? Is $240 before or after 30% off?

every single bfg tire i've seen (and i see a lot, we are a bfg dealer) over 2 years old is cracked in some form or another. if it's just fine cracking i wouldn't even worry about it. if it's bad enough to where it's leaking, then you want to look into getting new tires.

A buddy of mine had those tires on his 07 Nissan Titan and they did the same thing. I dont think you are in danger or them blowing out, but if you feel that you need to replace them I would say the hell with the 30% toward 240 a piece for more rugged trails; bite the bullet and get some better tires.

Mine did as well. Got some Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's. Those BFG Rugged Trails scared the bee-geebers out of me. I do a lot of hi-way driving and didn't want a blowout.

BFG have great tread life but, sidewal cracking is a know flawl that they dont seem to want to fix. I had BFG A/T's on one of my trucks and at about 27k miles all four were crakin like a SOB. I suggest you really monitor this problem or get new ones soon, it the cracking gets too deep they start leaking pretty bad.

had them when I bought my truck. probably 40% life left, they were cracked all over. Terrible tires at everything but burning out. Burnt both the fronts and backs off then got rid of them. The cracking was terrible. Sidewall, tread, everywhere.

And if you were quoted 240 a tire for the stock ruggeds your dealer is charging you 100 more then they are worth each.
