Both pistons must be pushed in at the same time! If you push in only one the pressure will push out the other one but I dont think you could break it. Just push in the "stuck" one untill they are equal and then as said use an old pad and put the clamp on pad inbetween both pistons and all should go well.

Have a similar problem with the dual pistons (though mine's a '98). I'm sure my problem is a stuck caliper-- went through a new set of brake pads on the driver's side front like newspaper in the last 4 months--less than 3000 miles. Question is: can you still get caliper rebuild kits? Do people still rebuild them? Changed a motherload of brakes in my life, but never had to rebuild a caliper. Rebuilt a slave cylinder for a clutch once--Am I going to have to hone the piston cylinders? What's involved? Is it worth it? Is it easier to just replace the caliper? If so--new part or junkyard time? Any oldtime brake gurus out there?

Safe? Who said anything about safe? Safe is for little boys and old women. Posit a question--my old '79 F150 (yes, I am that old) had a brake differential valve about mid-body--had a needle valve in it that had to be held out while bleeding. Do modern brakes still have this? Could this be part of the culprit in the difficulty in forcing dual pistons back (and I know if you only push one piston...it forces the other one out) Do they still have that valve?
