Cooper Discoverer STT vs. Pro Comp Xtreme A/T

I've heard both tires get great reviews, probably more with the Pro Comps, but i just wanted to see what you guys thought (from a performance standpoint and looks). I'll more than likely be putting new tires on sometime next week. I do mostly in town driving except when i go hunting and fishing and occasional offroading. I'd love to get the KM2's but not at a near $1200 . if you have any other suggestions i'd like to hear 'em too (size will be 315/75r16)

here are some pics of the tires in that size:

Cooper Discoverer STT (i can get these for about $880 out the door)

Pro Comp Xtreme A/T (get these for about $905 out the door)

Thanks

Cody

the coopers are sweet. but if you havent seen the procomps up close, the have 23/32 tread depth, just as much as the cooers but they are friendlier on the road and youll get more wear out of the pro comps. wish my mickey thompsons were 900 out the door, i dropped 1500

not to be a **** but it is a tread wear expectancy not a warranty. many tire places might tell you that but it is not true

Quality should be similar since both are manufactured by Cooper Tire.

i will recommend the cooper STT many times over...im on my third set...getting right around 47,000 or so each time so if you rotate and arent extremely hard on them they will not only look great but perform well and last a long time...

as much as i like the idea of an agressive a/t that has a "warranty", i might be starting to lean towards the STT's. 3rd time in the last month that the price has dropped on them, and i can get everything done at one place. while with the XA/T i wouldn't get them mounted and balanced at 4WP because they're too expensive. hmmm....hard to beat a M/T that lasts almost 50k..

I vote for the Pro-Comps, x100.

Great company to deal with, very great staff. I prefer the look of the X-A/T personally, and the performance, and warranty just can't be beat. I'd bet the A/T gets better traction off road then the cooper's but BOTH are GREAT tires. I ahve buddies running both, no one complains.

That Cooper tire is showing up more and more and more on trucks around my house. Seems like (from the looks of the tire) they're really going after the Toyo M/T customers and doing quite a job. I had a set of Cooper tires on a car some time ago and they were lacking in areas but I wonder how far their quality has come?? They look great, and for $500+ cheaper OTD than the M/T's, it does make you wonder!!!

GIP1979...what MickeyThompsons do you have and how do you like them???

The branding imagery on the website sales "Mile Treadwear Warranty" for the X A/T's

they have been touting that warranty business on that tire since it came out as opposed to a life expectancy...supposedly they stand behind it but i have never heard of anyone trying to call them on it...because other factors are going to come into play...just because an jeep wrangler or even an f150 gets 50,000 miles (or whatever the warranty extends too) out of a set, what do they do when someone who is running them on a 250,,350, or 450 doesnt get anywhere near that amount (i only give that example b/c i have two lifted superdutys running them down my way)...proven fact that the heavier truck will not get anywhere near the same amount of life out of tires especially softer compound, more aggresive tread off road tires

and i will have to disagree about the xAT getting better traction offroad than the STT..my buddy that is running them on his supercrew f150 in whatever metric size comes out to be the 33x13.50x18 has had them offroad with me several times and down here in the mud we tend to find ourselves in he cant get the things to clean out - they are fine in the dirt and soft soil and sand but once we get into any sort of sticky thick mud they fill up and slick over and he cant get them to clean for anything - im not going to buy any AT and then expect it to perform in the mud though - thats not what it was designed for at all

Really? I have plugged mine completely to where i couldnt see the tread at all (looked like mud slicks) and within 20 feet had them clean out completely and ready to go back into the hole again. It was that red alabama gumbo. I thought i was hosed and surprisingly I got right out.
