My experience with Carquest blue was very different than others here. I put them on and the brake dust was as bad as (if not worse) than OEM pads. It was also darker than original. I took them off in less than 2k miles, and put ceramics on from Auto Zone.

It's now much better than OEM or Carquest Blue. People look at me strange when I say I'm on my 3d set of brakes in 15k miles.

Really? To my knowledge metallic pads are supposed to be better than ceramic. Interesting to hear. Anyone else?

Ceramic is better than metal...in certain cases. I would like to hear how it is better when concerning brakes.

I guess I was informed with bad information. Thanks I appreciate your advice. What brand pads would be best suited for the least amount of dust?

Dust is mostly dependent on how good the brakes are at stopping. The better the stopping power, the more dust your going to notice.

A common way to point that theory out is to look at most BMWs/Mercedes/ect. on the road. For those owners of those cars that don't keep them clean, your going to notice a lot of brake dust on the front rims. BMWs have awesome stopping power on the OEM pads, but also produce a ton of dust... see the connection?

Edit: Forgot to add. I used the duralast brake pads from Autozone I believe. They work alright. Stopping power is about the same or a little less as factory pads, but much less dust.

Ceramic is better if you heat your brakes a lot, for instance in raciing or towing. However, it is my opinion that you pay for that with rotors. I think they are harder on rotors. I prefer a high quality semi-metallic. I have 61,000 miles on my Wagner ThermoQuiets and they are not half way worn and very very little dust. I put them on at 11,000 just to get rid of the dust.

Alright. My truck is brake dusting excessivly anymore, 3 days after my wash and its covered. Kind of disappoints me, I brake easily too. Never stomp them or brake hard.
