Can I put a 305/65-18 tire on an 18x9 wheel....

I have a 2.5" leveling kit on a 2005 4x4. I was thinking of going with some moto metal 951's with the 4.5" backspacing (because the nice lip on the wheel) with a set of 305/65-18 tire. The tire is just a little bit taller than the 325 but not quite as wide. Do you think these will fit?

I dont see why they wouldnt, I beleive the 305's are approved for an 8.5-11" wide rim. I have um on stock FX4 rims and love them, you setup should look great too!

I just hope that a tire this tall doesn't rub.....since the wheel has 4.5" backspacing. Tough decision.......I've been asking so many wheel/tire questions the past few days
I just don't want the tires to stick out to far from the fenders.

Im not that great with tire sizes and what not so I asked a ton of questions before I got mine, dont worry about asking alot. with the 305's you will probably need a leveling kit if you dont already have one, i dont beleive they will fit w/out one.

The 305's are made for a 8.5 min rim width, you'll be about perfect on a 9". A BS of 5 to 5.5 ought to be about right.

I wish I could find a wheel I liked with 5 to 5.5 backspacing. Any idea's? I really like the moto metal 951's but I'm scared they will rub.

Look on American Racing or some other manufacturer's website and pick out wheels you may like. They should give sizes and other specs, 18x9 w/5 or 5.5 BS ought to be right for these tires.

How wide are those Moto Metals. If they are 9 inches wide with 4.5 inches of backspacing, they are gonna stick out 2.5 inches farther than the OEM wheels.

You may have some minor rubbing. I doubt it will be too bad.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am in the same bind right now, I am looking at 305/70/17 MTR's with the 951 moto's, but am affraid that they are going to stick out way to far. That two inches does not include what the tire will stick out in addition to the rim...correct. That would be to far to leave alone and would require some aftermarket fenders, adding to the already expensive process. Hmmm any additional thoughts would be most helpfull.

I'd almost be tempted to try them on your stock wheels for awhile, the only thing bad is that they might not wear right.
