It's always a good idea to put relevent information like that in the your first post. Cuts down on "Twenty Questions" games.
Here's a starter from the service manual:
o Brake Pedal Is Low or Feels Spongy
Possible Source(s):
§ Brake fluid level.
Action(s) to take:
§ REFILL the brake master cylinder reservoir to MAX line. INSPECT hydraulic system for leaks. REPAIR as necessary.
Possible Source(s):
§ Air in system.
Action(s) to take:
§ BLEED the system. REFER to «Section 206-06».
Possible Source(s):
§ Brake master cylinder.
Action(s) to take:
§ PERFORM the «Brake Master Cylinder Component Test» in this section.
Possible Source(s):
§ Brake shoes and linings.
Action(s) to take:
§ REPLACE worn or damaged brake shoes and linings in axle sets as necessary.
Possible Source(s):
§ Push rod adjustment.
Action(s) to take:

Have fun.

2 Suggestions;
1. Check to see if in fact your rear wheel cylinders are not leaking.
Just pry off a little of the rubber boot, and if fluid comes out, replace as nessary.
2. Make sure you bleed the system in the right order or you'll push air around.
R/R, L/R, R/F, L/F, Always wanna start bleeding from the farthest point from the master cylinder.

ok - I bled the brakes AGAIN, bled them until i had new fluid coming out, used a vacuum bleeder - no air, how ever- as soon as i test drove the truck, the wheels almost locked up on me when i tapped the brakes as i coasted out of the drive way, but as i got up to speed and tapped the brake a couple of times, pedal got soft again, at 25mph i stood on the brakes -HARD- it just coasted to a stop,stopping distince is too long , not stopping this thing in an emergency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(which already happened
)
rear brakes check out - ok
any clues ????? should i start looking into master cylinder ???????????????
I don't even think it's safe to drive
the only diffrence from bleeding system and test drive is engine not running while bleeding system, but as soon as i start up and test drove -- is it something in the master cylinder or vacuum booster ????????
aslo, has anybody heard of the heater core getting busted as a result of an fender bender - i also have to fix heater core - started smelling anti-freeze after

OK- changed master cylinder today, pretty easy - bled system again, test drive was good , much more stopping power
will post again after a few trips, as to make sure this was the real problem.
now onto the heater core.................

Master Cylinder.
Hi FF301 can you tell me where you bought the master and how much it was..?? I need to do mine also.. how difficult was it to do? my brake pedal goes way too low..scaring me sometimes.. I have to pump to get the brakes at a higher pedal position..so after changing everything like you. .I'm down to the master..cylinder...
