Just put on the 315's on stock 17's
Hello All
Thanks to all of you who gave pointers on what to do to fit 315's, I was able to put 315/70R17 BF AT Ko's on my stock 02 F150 Screw today. I am more than happy. I actually think the ride is better than the BF AT Ko 265's I had on previously.
Here is what I did to do this;
1 Found the tires at tirerack.com for $124 each. $62 S/H
2 I followed the instructions from this site;
http://home.sc.rr.com/davemanspage/T...20Procedure%20(Rev%20A).pdf
The only thing that I did different was crank the torsion bars all the way, with the use of an impact wrench.
3 I trimmed the bit of plastic that was rubbing on the front flaps, and
They work great!!!
I will post pics soon. Let me know if you have any questions. Ican tell you, the new stance is sooooooooo cool.
Enjoy

I just had a similiar experience only with my BFG 285/70r17's. I had them mounted on my stock rims and they fit without any modifications, however I recently bought some Mickey Thompson Classic II's in 17X9. Once tires were installed they rubbed against the front fender. Only minor trimming was required but it was more than I expected. Apparently the width also dictates the fit!

I hope you're ready for some accelerated wear on your tires. Stock wheels are too narrow for tires that wide. I've seen some people put MTRs on stock wheels and they lasted a little over 40k. I've got 315 MTRs and they've been run on 10" wheels and I'm almost at 50k on them and I've still got 3/8" tread on them. Also I wouldn't expect any kind of manufacturer warranty on the tires if you keep them on the stock wheels. Reccommended wheel size is probably 8-10" which is wider than stock. Since the stock size every manufacturer I've seen will not warranty the tires due to "misapplication". I had a set of 265s on my truck that went back after 3000 miles and they were replaced under warranty. I almost got 305s instead and if I had I woulda been sol and I would've gotten to spend an additional $600 in tires. Its a gamble if theres a defect in the tires, and personally its one I'm glad I didn't make cause oversized truck tires are expensive.

I have 45k miles on my 35" procomps on my stock 17" wheels and I have more tread than 3/8" remaining.
You just have to regulate your tire pressure to give a nice even wear surface. I run 30 lbs in the fronts and 28 lbs in the rears and have a perfect wear area spread across the full tread. 4wheelparts had a very detailed procedure on figuring out your perfect tire pressure for oversize tires last year.
Tire warranties don't mean crap to me, they will screw you no matter what with the warranty. You end up paying more for a warranty replacement than you would with just buying a brand new tire. I have been down that road too many times.
