Question ORP Tire Quality

Are the factory ORP 17" tires any good?
Or are they crappy like the 16" Goodyears?

well it just rained real hard here in So Cal and I have the ORP. I barely gassed it and I felt the tires slipping. I didn't dare to take any turns quickly.

The stock tires with the ORP are terrible. The Goodyear RT/S's are the worst tire I've ever had. Hated them on my 97, and hate them on the 2000. With a wet road they are dangerous. How Ford can put this tire on a 4x4 ORP is beyond me. It is the only thing that I dislike about the truck.

My ORP came with Goodyear AT/S's and I have no problems with them. The compound of this tire is much softer though than the RT/S's I had on my 98 Ram.

I see Ford now offering 17" Goodyear Wrangler AT/S as a "suggested option" for the ORP. Wish they would have offered them in 1997. The RT/S is "P" rated, best used in dry parking lots with no glass. Guess I'll give the AT/S or BFG AT's a try.

My advice.... run, don't walk, to the nearest tire shop and trade those Goodyear RT/S tires for 4 BFG All Terrain K/O's!!!!!

Yeah the RTS REALLY stink on wet pavement.
I just took mine off and replaced with Dunlop Radial Rover AT's. It's a nice tire at a great price, I got 4 of them for ~$390, installed, balanced etc.etc.
I love them so far. Relatively quiet, good ride, and EXCELLENT in rain. Nice alternative to the $130+ ea. tires offered by others.
Just wanted to pass this along.

I had the stock 17" ORP on my 97 Lariat RT/S Goodyear Wranglers .I didn`t like them at all. So at 32,000 miles I bought the new AT/S Goodyear Wranglers. I love these Tires alot better ride. I`ve never lost traction with these anyway. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!..Lariat#1

RockOFFROAD, what size Rover AT tire did you get for $390? Sounds cheap if they are 17"!

LARIAT1, thanks for the AT/S info. What did you pay for these in 17"?

I have the orp also and i have the at/s they are okay alot better than the rt/s my father in law has. I like the traction and the noise is very quite in cab. The bfg all terrians that i had i my dodge (295 16) where good but the milage wasn't good for wear i rotaed them and balanced them every 5k and they still wore out in 20 k, but traction was a tad better than these i have but i will wear these out first and see what is avaiable latter. It's a lease hope fully i won't have to put tires on it.

The Goodyear tires are junk, at 22,000 miles they already had shifted belts. Now I have that annoying " vump...vump...vump " sound going down the road. You can chalk me up for a set of the new BFG AT/KO's thats for sure.

Those Goodyear RT/S's arent even good for a tire swing. Try to sell these at a garage sale,, lol.
I'll stick to my Super Swamper SSR's.
