'03 Power Steering Noise

'03 Power Steering Noise
My '03 F-150 has a VERY pronounced power steering whine when either turning, or just accelerating. Just wondering if anyone else here with an '03 has noticed this?
I guess I need to take it in and have the dealer check it out.

Hey Doug,
I just had some issues with my 2000 F-150 XLT SC, 43,000k . It ended up being a P/S. Pump, I took it apart and found the router had actually split in two pieces causing the pump to freeze. To top it off, the P/S pump was missing a bolt and also looked like it had just started to leak. I was wondering how you made out. I'm pretty upset at this point, as Ford wanted 165.72 for the pump and most of the other part joints couldn't find a replacement at all. Finally NAPA got me one for 66.00 with a CORE deposit. Regardless, let me know how you made out on this, I'm attempting to find out how many others had this issues. I'm going to write to ford and provide some pics of the router that malfunctioned.

ON THE SUBJECT OF YOUR PREVIOUS TRUCK, HOW DID THE TRUCK REACT TO YOUR INSTALLING THE SUPERCHIP WITH THE FPIK? IM SERIOUSLY CONSITERING THE CHIP FOR MY O2 5.4 BUT I AM NOT INTRESTED AT LEAST AT THIS POINT WITH ANY EXHUST MODS. (NOTICED THAT YOU DIDNT HAVE ANY EITHER) JUST LOOKING FOR INFO. THANKS

I didn't notice a whole lot of difference after installing the FIPK other than the nice "howl" it made when hitting the accelerator. I am sure that an 8-10 h.p. gain probably isn't that noticable to begin with, especially with a SuperChip already added.
I am planning on taking my truck to another dealer this week to check out the noise, I'll let you know how it turns out.

P.S. noise
I just bought my '03 Screw. I mean JUST! Five days later and I'm hearing the same buzz noise coming from the pump that the old turds used to make. I only have 400 miles on this truck. This noise doesn't make me feel too comfortable. 5 f'ing days. Incredible.

Have a 2002, replaced the pump with 2000 miles on it. Loud whine when accelerating or turning exspecially when cold.
