What Three Gauges Would You Choose?
I am considering installing a triple gauge pod on my Windshield post. What three gauges are most important to install?
1. Tachometer
2. Engine Oil Temp.
3. Transmission Oil Temp.
4. Exhaust Temp.
5. Your Choice
5. Your Choic
What reasons can you give for choosing those particular gauges?
Thank for your help,

I'm with Galaxy on this. If I worked for Ford it would look like a airplane, all the gauges and armored toggles. It would take a 2 day training corse upon purchase of the truck to figure it all out.
" OK, here you have your fuel cutoff- watch guage for pressure, here is the electical supply turn on, now this turns on the pre-oiler for the supercharger, ok now hit the key" Well, what's this one do? Oh, that's the ejection seat button for the nagging wife because shes mad she doesn't know how to operate complicated machinery"
My vote
1. trans temp
2, water temp
3. oil pressure that works
If you keep water temps down and oil pressure is good oil temp should be good too
Boost/vac, fuel pressure are not bad ideas either

Hey KYFordFreak, that's pretty good. You're right about the oil temp too. Just for your reference my oil temp is almost always (98% of the time) right at 95-100* above ambient outside air temp. Trans is usually around 70* above. The only time the oil temp climbs higher than the 100 above ambient is like heavy towing, driving through mountains, things like that. Very efficient system. Even when it get's a little warmer, still nothing in the world to get alarmed about. Highest I have ever seen was 205 going over the mountains in 90* weather with O/D off.

This was my thought, monitor the things that can cause serious damage.
Air/fuel ratio, vacuum, and other such gauges are great, but in the event of a problem these symptoms should cause a CEL and/or audible sounds.

My number 1 would Trans
2 would be Engine oil
3 would be a true coolant temp gauge.
4 a tue oil pressure
If I had a Diesel I would also think about the EGT gauge, but for a gasser that is of no concern.
BTW my truck comes with a tack, not that its very usefull, unless I was doing alot of towing, where I would need to keep the RPM in the max torque range!!
