Ok guys this e-mail that I got from ford crc is the same BS that they told me when I called them. they say that the towing package is not on my truck, yet when I ordered the damn thing I ordered that package and have the order sheets as well as the equipment to prove it(everything except the correct radiator). So where do I go from here, the dealer is saying it's correct and ford is saying that I don't have a tow package on my truck. This stuff is crazy!!

Hey Guys,

I got the 2 row radiator installed this morning with no hassle. My warranty repair invoice said to "check for a misbuild" and saying that the 2.02 radiator was called for in 2000 F-150's with the Tow Package. I checked under the hood and was very happy with a clean install. In fact, my shroud is cleaner than when I took it in. And yes, it is the same shroud.
However, as I was leaving, I walked past a nicely dressed man and he was talking to two service writers. (not my service writer) I overheard him say, "If a customer asks, tell them they have the correct radiator." Now, I don't know what preceded that statement, but I'm sure it has something to do with the F-150 radiator situation. Good Luck to those still wanting the correct radiator as it might become more difficult in the near future to get dealers to fix the misbuild.

Ok, is it me or did LHM just get a letter from Ford saying that class III does get the upgraded radiator. Doesn't this fly in the face of what some dealers are saying that the 1.02 radiator was found to be sufficient and thats why the thicker radiators are not being put in, and they just haven't changed the documentation? Seems that the left hand doesn't know what is going on while the right hand is in your pocket. This is really starting to **** me off.
BTW on another topic I took my truck in to verify I had the smaller rad. and I got it compared to a f150 heavy half. That one did have a much fatter rad. than mine. Supposedly I have a radiator on order.

My 2.20" was installed today around lunchtime. Really no big hassles from the CRC or the dealer( what a surprise!) I have the class 3 pkg. for which I paid an extra $ 400.00 and I wasn't about to let them short me on the most important part of the package. I live in S. Florida where it is hot ALL of the time. That is the prime reason why I purchased the class 3. Oh, and I do tow a boat around pretty much too!!!

I don't know if anyone has posted any pictures yet, but I've got 2 that I took to show the Regional Rep for my case. They show what the wrong (1.02") radiator looks like. I wish they were of beter quality but they were done in a hurry. I didn't even remove the shroud. I'll see if I can take some beter ones this weekend.

Angle view looking at radiator.

Looking straight down.

Swampview, it's there big as day class III towing package 400 bucks, and all the equipment is on the truck except the radiator. I replied to that e-mail and then they called me and stuck to their same BS story, I give the F@#$ up!! I used to be proud to own a FORD, things change though.

Y2K Offroad,

I'm presently trying to get some answers from the Service Manager at Sam Dell on Rt. 31. They initially told me I have the correct radiator. I asked them to list the part numbers on my paperwork, and of course when I picked up the truck, no part numbers. The service writer had left so I talked to the parts guy, he remembered bringing up the part numbers for the technician. All they saw was that the part number of the radiator in my truck is one of 4 (1 for a Lightning) that can work. It did not give any description of them. So the next day (yesterday) I called and talked to the service manager. He remembered my inquiry, and said he'd look into it. He called me back after getting some info from Ford (manufacturing I think) that said that they had made a mid-run change, and that the 1.02 radiator is sufficient for the Tow Package. It also said somthing like "Unfortunately, sales and marketing as well as dealerships were not made aware of this change. If further direction is needed, contact the regional office".

I asked him to fax me a copy of it, he said he would. Well, he hasn't. I called again this morning, and he said he wasn't sure if he could send it to me. After some more discussion, he asked for my fax number again. I just checked a few minutes ago.. no fax! No I need to call a 3rd time.

I'm sure Ford is well aware of this problem now. I will post again if I get any new info.

Good luck to all of us still trying to get what we paid for!

Dealer finally faxed info. But he blacked out all the important stuff. All he left was the "Dealer Concern" (my question). And the statement that "Ford is attempting to address this issue on all fronts w/customers and dealers". Then the rest is blacked out.

The part that is blacked out has a 'N' next to under a column labeled "Pub Rmk". I assume that that means it's not to be disseminated to the public.

The saga continues.

Red face

T21, I wouldn't stand for that kind of BS response from the dealer. Sue Ford made a mid-run change, but it was for the 2001 model year which specified a 1.42" instead of a 1.02".. So if they're telling you the 1.02" is the correct one, they're lying to you.

I'm supposed to be meeting at some point next week with the zone rep and field engineer and I am bringing along a 3-ring binder with all of the threads about radiator issue that I printed out. You might want to consider the same. In my case I also printed out the 2000 source book as well, and also the page from the 2001 that shows the 1.42" as being standard.

Good luck, and keep me posted!

LeatherRebel,

I ordered my truck at the end of April 2000. I didn't receive it until the end of September 2000. I waited 5 looong months. That's a story in itself.

So, like, they changed their minds before I ordered? Bull__it! I didn't get what I ordered.

I purchased via A-plan and I'm thinking that other than a good purchase price, customer satisfaction and follow-up is nil. I have not received any survey of any kind from Ford. It's like, because I got the A-plan, they don't need to waste their time with me.

On we go.....

Thumbs down

I know what you mean. I had the truck over a year and never received anything from Ford or the Dealer. Basically, we got you to sign on the line, now leave us alone. After the radiator deal with my truck and the b/s along with trying to get it replaced and the total ignorance of the Lincoln dealership about my problems and correcting them on my LS. I have no faith whatsoever with Ford. I was nice enough to give them a try, but I will NOT purchase another vehicle from them.

Question

Bull, Bull, and more Bull!
We have posts going back to 1999 with the wrong radiator. There was a spec. change from the 2000 model year to the 2001 model year which reduced the size from 2.20" to 1.42" We can all see and accept that as fact. This change "in mid run" is a bunch of crap. And that's not all: If you take at look
at the gross combined weight rating (truck and trailer and all goodies) of a expedition and a f-150, they are the same yet best I can tell, the expy's are getting the 1.42" radiator even though the 2001 expy spec sheet says they should be getting a 2.20".
Expy owners wake up!
