I noticed that a lot of you with complaints consistantly run low gears... mostly 3:55's and 3:73's. These gears cause your engines to operate at higher rpm's, and thus more fuel is burned. If you absolutely need better mileage, switch them out for some 3:20's or even lower. Also keep in mind, this is an American small block in a 6,000 lb. truck, not some Honda Civic 4-banger. The only thing they're good enough for is speed bumps.

Craig- '98 F-150 Lariat, 5.4 4x4; Stock aspiration, 3.55 LS, chrome Smittybilt Brush guard & roll bar, 4 Eagle Eye 100W lights, 2-55W Piaa lights, gts light covers, tinted windows, 17-in wheels & towing package... make me an offer! 6-disc Changer, Trumpet horns, Dual Captain's chairs, LEATHER!! I love my truck!!

hey guys, currently i have 2063 on my odometer and so far i have consumed exactly 118.2 gallons. that's 17.4 MPG! this might be due to my tires being 275/60/17 when stock, it came with 235/70/16. I keep a log of mileage and amount of fuel put in. this was all city driving plus leadfootitis. i hope it stays this way, considering Supreme unleaded cost 1.69 around here. LOL.

Just turned 4000 miles on 5.4 FQR, latest tank was 15.5 mpg all city & country roads. I'm not easy on it either. Mileage has steadily climbed on the FQR from 12 to 15.5 mpg. Guess I should be happy, but I expect even better mileage after they get rid of the winter MTBE fuel.
