Yesterday I drove a 200 mile all highway trip to a basketball game and I got 12.5 mpg, with the tailgate down. Granted I was going between 90-110 the entire way and I was having fun with my supercharger, I think I got good gas mileage.

Even with adding a tonneau cover, exhaust, Superchip, and K&N. My mileage stayed the same.

I have the 4.6 & I get roughly 10 city & 13 highway so I am not getting much better milegae than any of you. Just thought you'd like to know that it's probably not the engine size that is the reason here. It's us! LOL!
Sir james - I'm in Buffalo, NY. Are you anyhwhere near here? I can't tell from your profile. If so let me know if you'd be interested in a group photo come Springtime when we can wash our trucks & hopefully KEEP them clean for more than a mile or two!

I've gotten the same mileage since day one 11mpg city even after all the mods. Say Jupiterak how are those RSX's working for you? I wanna purchase the Edelbrocks but they are kinda expensive. Thanks!

Reraise,
I highly recommend them. Very firm and stable ride, plus it helped eliminate some axle wrap.

Sir James
I use one of those new shivys for my company truck. It's a 2500 burb with a 6.0L & is hard pressed to get 10 mpg at best. Maybe we shouldn't believe everything we hear.

Mine seems to be slightly better (2mgp) with a 5.4L. I average 13.3 in town and close to seventeen if all hwy miles. Just like the sticker, I guess, which states 13 to 17. I am able to get it worse than 13 in town if I drive hard. With a 25gallon tank the fuel light usually comes on with 21.5 gallons used, at this point usually at around 300 to 345 miles. This figures in at 13 to 16ish. This seems like horrible mileage to me for this day and age, but I am learning to live with it. I dread the day I have to start towing cargo and stuff, when I am sure I will see the mileage drop below 10mpg. Hope some of this helped.

Mine took over 10,000 miles to get broken in (I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 1000 miles).

New, I was getting 11-12 mpg city and it felt somewhat slow. It gradually came up to about 14 mpg city and 18 highway and it has a lot more power now. Mods or not, they won't get mileage like a civic.

I am installing twin electric fans when time and $$ permit. That is supposed to net 10-15 extra HP and 1-2 mpg!

Interesting... thanks for all the responses, guess I'll have to see what it's like broken in... then again, I'll probably end up installing a flip chip, and then I'll never know...

Question 11 mpg?

I haven't gotten better than 11mpg on any tank yet, including tanks with half highway driving - anyone else have similar mileage?

Thumbs up

I have been getting around 10mpg with my current set-up. I have found that no matter how I drive I still get 10. When my truck was stock I was getting around 14 mpg. Maybe your truck just needs to break in a little. Sorry this wasn't the answer you were looking for. I just want to know how those 5.3 Ltr chevy's can get 18-19 mpg?

Cowlady, I am in Rochester. Just a few miles down the road. I would be interested in that photo. Maybe I will take a trip to the falls this spring. Let's see about starting an upstate NY F150 club. I just love showing off my truck.(Only when it's clean of course).

I used to get 12-14 miles per gallon on the highway with my F-250 Super Duty. Now with the replacement engine, I get 8 miles per gallon with a tail wind.

I get about 15 in mixed driving, but I don't have 4 wheel drive. Maybe synthetics in the diffs and transfer case would help. From what I have seen in the past on this site, 10-14 is about it for 4X4s.

By the way, towing drops the MPG nto single digits for me.
