They're probably doing that to compensate all the time and money lost for warranty work because of the oil leak problems.

From what i've read on the edmunds page is that for the supercrews the 5.4 is now going to be @$1600 rather than the $800 it has been. No v6 is avail for the S-crews. I was wondering if Ford was packaging it w/ something to justify the price doubling....

Or perhaps they have a ton of 4.6 engines to unload. A very good motor, in my opinion.
Hey jupiterak, I see you have the 4r100 tranny. Are you happy with it?

whitengray,
I definitely like the 4R100 trans. It performs very well when I tow my dad's 6000 lb. Bayliner. But I don't like the bad gas mileage.

Jupiterak,
I have the 4r70w in my new screw, only has 1400 miles and gas milage so far is 14 mpg
mixed city/highway driving. Your gears are higher than my stock 3.55 which probably explains the minor difference. I also like my tranny so far....I asked about your tranny because of posts requarding poor shift quality etc. Most of the posts I see reguarding trannys fail to mention which tranny,so its tough to come to any conclusion
with out comparing apples to apples

whitengray,
Yeah, you're right about the sloppy shifting. I changed to Mobil 1 synthetic trans. oil which helped alittle, but the Superchip definitely firmed it up. But I'm still thinking about a Transgo shift kit.

The 5.4L has been 1600 for a while. It was never a 800 dollars as far as I know. I ordered mine in december and looked at pricing of engine back in November. Like fasttriton said 1600 for 5.4L and 800 for 4.6L is correct.

tfratze- You said "Good think i picked up screw when did. It was still a 800 dollar option last week".

Yes it is a 800 dollar option for you because the base engine for screw is 4.6L and not the 4.2L like in regular/supercab. So you only pay the difference of the 4.6L to 5.4L when the rest of us pay the difference from the 4.2L to 5.4L which is 1600. Just wanted to clearify that for you buddy

I went to ford.com and priced a reg. f150 and you folks are right +1550 4.2 vs 5.4 not 4.6 vs 5.4. I guess the guy over at edmunds.com town hall had it wrong. Looks like the dealer may have bamboozeled him for the extra, given the 4.6 is stock in the S-crew vs the 4.2.

thanks guys
