Question Oil capacity for 99 5.4

Just wondering if any of you guy's know the answer to this.
I've got a 99 F-150 with the 5.4. It has the towing package with the oil cooler, ect... I was told that the oil capacity for the 5.4 is 6 quarts. I noticed when I changed the oil that it is halfway up on the "normal range" on the dip stick. Just wondering if it really should be 6.5 or 7 quarts due to the oil cooler. Thanks guys!

Its seven quarts, if you have the HD tow package with the big oil cooler, otherwise its six quarts.

This has been argued many times here and from what I gathered the consensus was that the engines hold 6 quarts, with or without the oil cooler. I use 6 quarts of mobil 1 5w30. I think a good comparison would be to find out where the oil level rises to on the stick with six quarts of oil on an engine without an oil cooler. I have the oil cooler and mine comes up about half way or a little more in the normal range.

Ford apparently used/uses two different sized oil coolers. The one installed in the Expediton 5.4's apparently hold half a quart more. My 99 does not come up to the full line with anything less than seven quarts.

quite awhile ago this discussion went around and the answer then was that the level was only supposed to come up to the mid of the "good" range. not all the way to full as on older trucks.
i do not remember the person who gave the infos name however i do remember it being agreed that that was indeed the proper amount of oil to add to the trucks.
i didn't pay enough attn then because i only had a lowly v6 then.

Mine takes 7 to get right to the full mark. Full means just that, full, not almost, not halfway between, full. When I eat, I get full, I don't leave myself wanting more, why would I.

I think that's just a line that Ford says so they can save a quart of oil on every change. Think about how that adds up across every dealership in the country over a year. I'll take a cut of that.

Yeppers. I have the towing package too, and it takes 7 quarts. Interestingly enough, the last time I took it to a dealership and had the oil changed, they only added 6. Wal-Mart, however, added 7, and charged me half the price. What a great place to shop!

Just thought I'd throw that in there.
