Smile Squealing Found!

I've had other posts talking about a sqeal (like a slipping belt) coming from the engine. The dealer tried their best but could not cure the problem. Today while I was changing the oil in my '97, I was going to change out the tensioner, too. I took the belt off, and started spinning accesory pulleys. Finally, I came to the altenator, and there was the problem. Now, my question is, where can I find a new, non OEM altenator for a reasonable price? It's the heavier duty alt. I have the tow package on my truck.

There are electrical shops that can rebuild these and install higher ampere coils, I have even seen kits at the auto parts store for this...

Lightbulb Try this place...

Try Mr. Alternator. A lot of guys on one of the Explorer boards have used them and have been very pleased. Sorry, I don't have any personal experience with them.

What is included in a rebuild kit? I dn't know if the bearings are the cause of the noise or something is rubbing internally. I really don't need more power from the alt. I aready have the big factory alt. I just want to take the noise out of the bloody thing.
