Thumbs up Redline fuel treatment

No, I'm not plugging for this company...so don't take this post like that...

When Steve first started this board a couple of years ago, I remember the topic of Redline Fuel Injector Cleaner surfacing. During the winter months, gas mileage seemed to drop off due to the type of gasoline being manufactured, the cold weather, etc. During these discussions, a certain factor was also realized which was, that over time, our injectors, valves and seats were carbonizing. Someone recommended using Redline Fuel Treatment, since they has phenomenal success with it, and I did. The difference is amazing. Stuff is hard to locate at times, I just found the last two bottles at Pep Boys and promptly snatched them up.

Do all of yourselves a favor and introduce a bottle of this stuff into your gas tanks, it definitely will give you a couple of miles more to the gallon as well as make the truck more peppier.

I also subscribe to a couple of boat message boards, gentleman in those forums recommend a product called "Sea foam" which de-carbonizes 2 stroke marine engines. Some of the board members have also used it in their vehicles, they say this stuff works miracles. Anyone try it in our four strokes?

This stuff is not "snake oil" gentleman.....

-Kindest regards

Sea-Foam is a very effective FI cleaner as well. I have used it on many of my vehicles for a couple years now and it is relatively cheap($4.00). The pony crowd over at the CORRAL.net swears by Red Line product you used. After joining this board I have tried the Chevron FI cleaner and had great sucess with that on my 92 Nissan 4 cyl with 170K on it. That goes to show there are a number of good FI cleaners out there.

Yes, I'm going to run SeaFoam through my 200Hp Johnson outboard later next summer. Recently used another decarbonizing product manufactured bu Nauticpro,(sp?) in it, don't believe or feel that it was very effective.

SeaFoam is harder to locate here in Maryland than Redline though....

BigRed2, have you used SeaFoam in your current F150 yet?

Well, everyone seems to have a favorite. Mine is the Amsoil Performance Improver. It is more of a preventative product than a post carbon build up cleaner, but it does do a good job of initial cleaning also if you use a full bottle with a tank of gas. 2 oz per 20 gal gas does a great job of lubricating the valves, etc. I used to get valve clatter for a few seconds at start up. Since using the Amsoil the valve clatter at start is gone and the truck runs noticeably better. Ran good before. Runs great now.

I have used Redline, Chevron, STP, Chemtool, etc. Amsoil is the best product I have used. It actually does what it advertises and then some. Less money if used as recommended than Redline too.

I only use BG44K for cleaning carbon deposits. Its supposedly the best and used by the profesionals!

I used some sort of spray foam crap on my boat. I have a 5.7L Mercruiser with a 4 barrel carb. I simply sprayed the stuff down the carb while it was running. Used the entire can as recommended. Didn't notice much difference in performance!
Is this the stuff your talking about? And if so, how do you use it on your trucks? Spraying it inside the TB?

Rand,

Not sure if you were using SeaFoam...normally you would spray the contents of the can into the engine, and then shut it down for the chemicals to work. I think that SeaFoam doesn't have to sit overnight like some of the other (OMC) cleaners.

If you just spayed it and kept the outboard running, na...it wouldn't have done much good, didn't stay uninterrupted in the cylinders long enough to work

...unless you didn't have a buildup of carbon in the first place.

I used the Chevron stuff in my F-150 at 12K, next time I will probably just use the SeaFoam since it does cost less.

After I read this thread,I first thought it was b.s.,as I have never had a fuel additive work for me. I went ahead and bought the Redline fuel system cleaner.
My rough idle is almost completely gone!
I couldn't believe it!! The truck just sits there like a ton of lead, and the idle is almost as smooth as it was at 24,000miles(when I bought it) Cool!!!,,,98
