mtknee,
Advertising on the site sounds like a good Idea. I will try to find out more about it. For myself you know it costs dollars, I try to find ways to advertise that don't cost me an arm and a leg. I will try to contact the corporation to see if they would be interested.
Ron Kaltenbach,
I was in no way bashing Redline, I have never heard anything bad about them, The link was a FYI, something to read--That site that has it is kinda wierd. It's like they are throwing down your throat with so much info!! HAHA
Wtd- For $10 you can get a 6 month dealership you can buy at wholesale, typically 20-30% under the retail. If you take a retail price and figure 25% you will be close. Shipping is still the same price. I know what you mean about the .30 more for the 25k mile stuff, it doesnt make sense, Its mostly a marketing thing for the Quick lube markets. They have this whole packet that show how the quick lube make as much on one XL7500 oil change as they would 3 conventional. But it also show the customer would save in the same year about $10.00 in oil changes+ the time it takes to sit in there and wait for 5 conventioal changes every year as aposed to only 2 w/XL7500. Send me an email if you are interesed in the wholsale thing. That is what most people do that use it in all of there stuff. If you just run it in one car you are spending more than if you just bought retail, but if you typically run it in 2 vehicles+ some lawn and garden equipment,or a motorcycle/ATV. You will be saving some money.

OK, I went to the web page and read all the information thoroughly. It appears to be a good system but one that is actually been in place for years been clear back to the 1940's. Franz's oil filter systems are still available and still use what they call a cotton/fiberglass filter which is actually heavy-duty grade put paper. I currently use this system on my 65 Shelby Mustang replacing it took paper filter monthly and annually replacing the primary engine filter. My Ford truck uses a remote duel oil filter system and my conduct will changes annually and replace the filters every six months. But people must be aware that when the use the remote oil filter system the filters must be placed hanging down so that oil will remain in them otherwise you'll have a lubrication depletion problem on initial start up. It is also very important to locate these filters within 2 ft. of the block otherwise this can also cause a lubrication depletion problem on start up. In regards to filter capabilities, a few years ago I got on the phone and talk with engineers at Fram, Wix and Quakerstate. They all said the same thing, with an automotive engine you cannot filter the oil > 15 microns on the primary filter without causing lubrication starvation or causing the filter to clog which opens the bypass valve and now you have unfiltered oil traveling through your engine. No manufacturer anywhere produces an oil filter for Street vehicles with a filtering capability > 15 microns. There are filters out there which will filter as close as five microns but are used in industrial and agricultural operations only.
Synthetic oils are great, however considering the most of the engines today are designed to go 100,000 mi. plus on today's conventional oils which of many of the synthetic additives blended in them anyway, unless you're racing I personally cannot justify the additional expense of using full synthetic oils in my daily drivers.

If we really want to find out which synthetic oil performs and protects best we need to find a study by an independent lab. In the meantime, I think any of the named synthetics will adequately protect any motor as it is used by most members of this board. I think some of us, me for sure, that have been involved with performance cars and also trucks, becomes a little "****" about the protection and performance of them. Even though my truck is an extra vehicle and used sparingly I continue to behave in this manner.

Well, I just did the oil change from my usual Mobil 1 to the new "Amsoil 0w-30" Didn't really notice a difference this morning on the way to the office, but we'll see if I ever do ? It is a thinner oil than the 5w-30 for sure. Hopefully it's much better too !

CPHILIP: Regarding the question on the Blue Thing around the air filter. Its a pre-filter for Outerwears. They come in different colors also. Check out their web site. http://www.outerwearsracing.com/frames.htm

As some of you know, I occasionally have posted regarding the benefits of Amsoil. I became a dealer to get access to the product.
I believe that you will be very pleased using the Series 2000 0-30w oil. I have used it every since it became available by Amsoil, about two years now. They arrived at the name because they performed 2000 tests to perfect it. Besides the 0-30w and the Racing Oil, they have grease and differential fluid also from the Series 2000 line. By the way, Series 2000 is their premier line, they market this against thier other lines which Al Amatusio claims is something that most companies do frequently.
I have installed on my 98 4x4 5.4 liter Amsoils by pass dual remote oil filter. I use the largest filters both by pass and full flow replacing the stock size full flow filter.
This provides an additional 2 quart sump capacity. By the way, no problems whatsoever.
I like the idea of having an oil filter that removes wear particulates down to less than one micron and removes water fromt the oil too. The filter media is designed to prevent oil channeling to ensure that oil does not stay in one path within the filter.
Using this system allows me to have extended drain intervals with no worry. I use oil analysis to ensure that I get a good idea as to whats happening regarding condition of the engine during these extended drain intervals.
The stuff is good---I would like to encourage those that would like to try it, make contact with a dealer in your area and give it a try.
By the way SS97Ford, the blue highligts under the hood look sharp---Where did you get the wrap around the hoses and wires???
From the front view i.e. grill and color of the truck, ours look indentical----Take care to all, Regards
