5.4 F150 3 Valve looking for master technician

Hi Everyone

I've been reading all of the wonderful posts regarding the spark plug removal. I've called many gargages in CT and can't seem to locate someone who is versed in the process of removing the plugs or maybe they just don't want to. I would go to a dealer but they have already quoted me 2,500.00 which is an exhortant amount of money.
I am looking for a garge in CT, hartford county, where I can bring my truck to have the plugs replaced. It is a 2007 F150 5.4 3V with 91,000.00.

Thanks
Heather

OMG 2500 thats insane! My dealer told me 450 plus 100 per broken plug but that can only total 1250 and I thought that was crazy!

Plug changes

For that, you could drive to Mn and have my mechanic do it for alot less. Had mine done the other month early cause I wanted the 2 piece plugs out. All came out intact and cost me $200 including the replacement plugs.

If nothing else, see if you can find an ASE certified mechanic and go have a talk with them. Good luck

My dealer charges $350. Surely there are other dealers to check out.

Here in the Detroit area the Ford dealers charge $320.00 to change the plugs plus if any break its $100.00 to remove the first plug and $50.00 for every broken one after that. I charge $50.00 for removing each broken plug. I've removed 19 broken plugs so far. Just an idea what others are paying. A couple auto parts stores have my phone number and hand it out to customers that are looking for help with these. You might want to try asking around. Good luck.

Sunnyside Ford in Holden, MA did my truck for around $350, plus 1/2 hour per broken plug.

They only broke one with 92k on the odometer and original plugs.

Heather, you have good answers above, no need for a tech since individuals past experiences is what you should draw from. Listen to them and find a dealership that's just as reasonable in your area.

BTW, - curious what "exhortant" meant ? All I can find is it's French for urging ?

Brew it's mis-spelled (my specialty!) the word is exhorbatant (that's as close as my phonics will get me) it means way too much, like way overboard.

Wow! I did that without a dictionary, shows what you can do when you burn through a 2 year collage in 5 short years! And I'm proud of that.

No , that would be "Exorbitance" = Excessiveness, as of price or amount.

(your specialty? )
