I preparing for worste case scenario and looking for a reman'd 5.4L 3v motor for my 2004 SCREW 4x4. I see some places online, but they just seem like dummy sites or part finder sites. A lot of them don't even list prices. Anyone know of a place I can actually call dealing with reman'd mod motors?

 

These guys supply Ford with remans. They build a good engine. http://aermanufacturing.com/ However there are a ton of places that reman and sell low mileage used engines as well.

 

I'm kinda sketch about buying one of the used low mileage 3v's. I've only had a few problems with mine, but seeing the amount of problems others have had, I would feel better getting a warranty.

I dunno - I'm sure people have had good luck with used motors, but for the amount that junk yards want for one, Car-part.com shows a local LKQ with one for about $2550 with 79k miles - for another $400 plus core - I could get a reman with warranty.

 

I'd go with the warrantied re-man, especially if you plan on keeping the truck for a while.
