4.6L Schaeffer Oil 500K mile motor tear down

Yep an awesome engine. Also a single overhead cam not a double overhead as they claim. 500,000 miles of highway driving as well. Seen them with over 600,000 miles on the odometer and probably another 200,000 worth of idling because they came from Taxi's and they had bulk oil run through them from the first oil change. The worst engines are the ones that are driven short distances or in stop and go traffic. They will sludge up and look like crap after less than 50,000 miles. That engine as they said could be reassembled and probably driven another 100,000 miles.

Key to the vid was their statement that the engine/truck was on the road all of the time. The fewer heat cycles, the less sludge and crap that will be in the engine. If you watch it again, note the coking on the bottom ring and the smoke stains. While they didn't say just how much oil this engine was going thru, it's evident that it was using oil. Still, not a bad vid though. There seems to be a lot of 4.6 engines getting close to the 500,000 mile mark without issues. I really hate to see it be a part of engine history but the new engines are offering an exciting ride.
FWIW, I looked on the website of the guy with the E150 van with the 5.4. He's over 1.2 million miles now. Transmission finally gave up back in June I think and the rear axle is starting to howl.

Not being familiar with this Neutra, I went to the Schaeffer website and the only Neutra they list is a fuel stabilizer only, product Neutra 131. It's not for engine oil or transmission use. The MSDS on it shows it as an alcohol based product. That doesn't mean there isn't something organic in the formulation but I didn't see anything magical about it. It's a fuel stabilizer, nothing more.
