Project lincoln

This weekend I picked up my newest project. It is a 95 Lincoln Town Car that is in absolutely beautiful shape. I picked this car up for free. The only problem is that the motor is knocking to beat hell. The motor that is in it is a 2v 4.6L. My plan is to swap in a 5.4L. I am going to use the 4.6 intake manifold and exhaust manifolds. I would like to find a PI intake manifold for cheap but if not I'll just use the non-pi that is on the car.

Some of the parts I will need are:

- Intake manifold adaptors to bolt the 4.6 manifold on the 5.4 motor.
- Windsor ring gear (flywheel)

Tuning will be an issue that I will have to search more. I have a spare SCT chip that is burned for the pcm that is in my truck now (2v 5.4L). I may just try putting the pcm in and see if it works. The differences in my tunes and the lincoln set up will be that the lincoln wont have an EGR and the lincoln has a return style fuel system. Also the PATS (security) system that is present on the truck pcm. Or I will have to send the chip out to be reburned. Also torque converter studs wont line up with the windsor ring gear. If I can find a cheap torque converter I will use it or I may just drill some holes in the windsor ring gear for it.

I would like to find a PI intake manifold and Torque converter for it if I can find it cheap enough but not manditory at this point.

You may have noticed that I used the word cheap a couple times. This is going to be a cheap project. Ideally I would like to get it mobile for <$700.

Here are a few pics I took tonight, I already started dismantling...

This car has some sweet things on it like 4 wheel disc brakes. 3.55 Limited Slip rear. Absolutely FULLY loaded and in gorgeous shape. and True Duals

interesting intake manifold on that car now

my only suggestion would be: don't use the adapter plates, the mustangs guys have noticed a huge decrease in mileage from using them

I'd just work a truck or van intake manifold and call it a day, see the one in my album for an example

I'd use the 4.6 converter (maybe out of a truck) since it has a higher step up ratio, and do the J-mod in the trans and that beast would fly like greased lightning the perfect sleeper for the unsuspecting camaro, challenger or mustang

That would be one sick sleeper

Are you sure that the Lincoln is OBD2?

I've already bought the intake adaptors. I really don't care for mileage. i don't know if the car is OBDII or not but I was planning on using the 6600 series flip chip reguardless.

I think you'll find that is an OBD 1 system. Look for an O2 sensor after the cats. If it has one, it's OBDII. The OBD 1's only have a sensor before the cats.....as I remember. OBDII's also use a heated sensor.

Well, there were *SOME* OBD2's prior to 1996, that's why I asked.

I am no longer going to use the adaptors for the intake manifold. i have some plans drawn up to make one however.

This car has an electric fan and a clutch fan right behind one another which i found different. It is also an OBDII car.
