If you haven't already paid for the repairs...then do the research and fix it yourself, what you said was wrong is not hard at all...just get the manual and go step by step. If anything there has to be someone you know who can help...

(does your school have an auto shop class???)...when I was in high school I would bring all my friends cars and mine in all the time and just ask the teacher to do a class that day on how to fix and stay late after school to finish with his help...usually just cost me lunch and $10 so he could go get some beer for himself.

Start learning now on how to fix things your self!!! Its easy to go out and buy all these bolt on adders to make your truck faster, bigger, lifted, etc... but that means more parts for you to fix also.

Take it from me...it only gets more expensive, so Build it, Race it, Break it, Repeat.

I blew my motor 2 weeks ago, 1 connecting rod shredded and 1 twisted, 2 pistons destroyed, scratched and scored the cylinder walls, broke a chunk off the oil transfer, huge hole in the valley, crank was chipped and chewed, and a crack in the block.
nope no auto shop (i wish). but damn you screwed all that up. SUCKS!

quote "(2nd. ive had my truck for 2 yrs. 4 mo. and 3 days. and i paid it off the day i got it. even tho i avarage $20 hr. i go out alot so alot of that is going to gas and dates and friends (when they need it) and some other stuff. but my point was that the more miles you out on it more thing are going to go wrong. with the enconomy today, i cant just pull $1,000 out of my *** and say "here".)"

Wow do they have any openings? My daughter is only making $8 an hour working 15 hours a week. Apparently you found money to pay to have someone else to fix it! Time is what you make it you could have saved quite a bit of that by instead of going out alot use some of that time maintaining your vehicle. It's called time management for a reason, not to mention prioritizing. I understand your still in school now but there is alot to be learned yet. My first car was a 9 year old 1966 Mustang I paid $600 for, man what i would give to find a deal like that now, and I learned from nessessity that i had to learn how to work on it myself. Same leason I've learned about nearly every other aspect in my life. Through various employment opportunities I've had in life I can do just about anything to do with everything around my house and any of my own vehicles and toys. Priorities spending time with some girl yeah, I remember some time ago when me and my current wife were dating I had her helping me put in a new A/C and Furnace in her mothers house running the copper and ductwork, let just say the shower later was very interesting. Maybe instead of first seeing the code then taking it to a mechanic it might have saved you quite a bit to get the code read first and come on this forum before paying someone to fix your problem. There alot of guys on here more than willing to offer their time and experience as sound advice. I've even seen guys offer to come to their place and help other guys fix their problems. Also $460 for a beach house unessessary my prom night was spent in the back of 56 F100 took a year to get all the splinters out of my ???? $10 for condoms definatly! Good luck on prom night.

So the $460 beach house was a necessary expense???

Look, We get it. You live ONCE and you die. Some of us prefer not to have those kind of expenses early so we can do more later. I work around people who make stupid choices with money on alcohol, and gambling and such. AND THEY HAVE NOTHING. Yet I am 1/2 their age, have a nice truck, nice townhouse, wife has a nice car. And we are all clothed and not hungry. To be honest, sounds like you have TOO MUCH MONEY. because I never miss any routine maintenance because something may happen hwere I dont have the money for a $1000 unexpected bill.

Wait till you get a kid. Their "Maintenance schedule" is alot more detailed then Ford's. and more pressing.

Yup you only live once some of us for a long time. Most of the time to have quallity later in life depends on how much quantity is spent early. I have a neighbor on the verge of bankrupcy that pays to have his yard done while me and my wife still do ours. I just recently replaced on my daughters 99 Mustang the rubber gromet on her gas tank filler neck the day before me and wife jumped on an airplane bound for Gand Cayman. Sure i could have paid someone else to do it, but in Grand Cayman it costs $6.25 @ beer.

this. and saving money for college. ive built up about $3k in my savings, also have about $650 in my checking account, alll through working the past year and a half. my dad actually gets upset when i work school nights because he doesnt want me out that late, says i need to concentrate on school, but im sittin on a 4.0 so im not worried.

i graduate on the 14th and then i will probably start working full time. hopefully i wont be working anymore double shifts, 10.5 hour shifts on your feet suck.

i guess my auto class is a little more competent. ive spent the year pulling trannys and doing brakes. im putting a new U-Joint on an s10 on monday, and adding a tranny cooler to it. ive already pulled the tranny and transfer case and reinstalled them. the tranny shop said they almost couldnt rebuild the transmission because it was burnt.

without a doubt the hardest thing ive done is rebuild a turbo 400 tranny.

sorry if im late on this, but dude seirously, you say you make 20 an hour?

i work 2 jobs make 8.50 and hour at one as a daily job and $100 or so a day on the side doing demolition/ flipping houses with one of my teachers(maybe once a month)

I'm also a senior in high school, i do ALL of the same things you do, probably even more.

i Afford my preventative maintenance, repairs, truck payments, mods, gas, and insurance.

plus beer(let's get real here..), partying, mall, clothes, prom, senior week, etc.

i do all of that on top of my 20 hours of school and 50 hours of work a week.

It's called saving some money, learn to do it!

put 100 dollars a week aside for spending on things like prom and friends, you'll be good to go.

don't complain about not having money, working ain't that hard.

x2 i want to know what he does to make $20/hr, thats $42,000 a year if your full time.

i make about $10/hr and that is more then the majority of my friends that have jobs.

if i was making double what i do now my truck would be a little taller.

ohh ive detailed cars as a side business.

20 an hour hardly covers the chemical cost.
so really you're making like.. 5-6 an hour. thats more understandable man.

i tried doing that with my buddy as a full time thing, there's just too many rainy days.. or the sun is so high/hot that you can hardly apply chemicals. That's a tough business to run without your own garage or detailing center.

I worked at Subway making 5.15 an hour in HS. I worked 40 hours a week during school, and minimum 80hours a week during summer. Usually 16 hour days Monday through Saturday with 8 hour day Sunday. So 104 hours a week. So thats roughly $1080 before tax a paycheck. I still only had a 86Tbird POS that was worth maye 500 bucks.. I wasted ALL my money on partying and strippers and just overall stupid ****. Now I work 40 hours a week with weekends off and make more then I ever did then.

You guys in HS that get a truck handed to you are Effing lucky. If you work in HS you should beable to pay your own repairs, and still beable to pay insurance. Other wise you wont make it in life.
