Got some more parts yesterday. Got 42lb injectors and a 90mm MAF. Also got some leds to change my dash lights to red. That oughta be worth about 10 hp on its own. LOL

I didn't see anywhere in here about you going with a supercharger?
You must be planing on one if you bought 42# injectors. Or am I missing something...lol

Haha a lightning swap is definitely in the plans for the future, hence my choice to go with a DSS built block. So i figured might as well get them now. The truck has 180,000 miles on it and i wanted to replace the injectors anyway, so figured i might as well upgrade!

By the way, Phil IIRC your running a DSS block too right? Hows it holding up?

Alan@Dirty dog performance just stopped by and dropped this off! A fully built 4r75W with deep sump aluminum pan and billet torque converter.

He drove it all the way to me in Illinois from Ohio. The shipping quote his carrier gave him was outrageous, so instead of sticking me with it he drove it to me. While he was here he even repinned my harness for me!! Service doesn't get any better than that. Alan is a stand up guy.

Here some pics of the truck getting in the shop getting ready to go under the knife. lol

and here is some stuff ive pulled off so far.

Don't know how I missed this.
Yes, I started with a DSS built block. Then I had my problem with a Comp spring breaking that was just installed on some new heads ( Spring broke and dropped the valve & took out a piston). Now it's been rebuilt & balanced by JLP. So it's got the DSS rodes & crank but JLP pistons, rings and bearings in it.
DSS builds a nice block!

Good deal on that tranny.
When I'm ready to put my truck back to 4X4,I'll be looking into the 4R75 swap.

Wait? Your swaping back to the 4r75? lol Or i guess you prob had the 4r70 before but still that seems like a step backwards. Unless your worried about weight but if your going back to 4x4 then i wouldnt think you would be?

Haha either way ill trade you straight up for the 4r100!

Yeah,my truck had the 4r70.
I hope some day to put the motor and trans in a lighter truck and put a semi stock lightning setup in the Screw.
I just think the 4r75 would hold up to 450 hp better then the 4r70.
And if I wanted to go with a 4X4 4r100 it would be way to much work and money trying to fit the T case in there.

nice choice on the transmission...

I'm glad once again Alan stepped up and prioritized customer service, you got a great deal expecially as he delivered it in person and repinned your harness

Yea Alan has been awesome to work with. You never haved any trouble getting a hold of him and he'll answer any questions you have. I guess the true test will be i get it in and running, but from what ive heard about Alan's transmissions i definitely wont have to worry about it holding up.

Okay so that green on the tranny is just a self etching primer. What do you all think? Should i leave it like that, paint it black, or paint it some other color? Or i guess i could strip it, polish it, and zoop seal it. Haha but that would be a ton of work.

So i think im goin to paint it black and clear it to make it shine. Yea i know nobody will see it but i will. Lol i guess im just OCD. Any recommendations on what paint to use? Can i use standard automotive paint or do i need to find some high temp stuff?

And since my 90mm maf is way bigger than the tubing in my k&n intake, i think im going to make a custom 4 inch intake. Anybody ever done this?

I'm not sure about your air intake situation. If you read klitch's 5.4 Lightning swap, he had problems with the k&n system. He couldn't get it to run right and thought he had some electrical issue. Then he put the stock air box back on and it worked great. But of course you're not supercharging yet so I'm thinking a 4 inch would be fine? Just keep that in mind when you go supercharged.

Yea i remember reading about that, but i dont recall what about it actually cause the problems. Just as long as its metered air i dont think there should be a problem. I just figured since im putting the bigger maf in i better not constrict it with a step down right afterword.

P.S. Mclovin, only one week of class left!
