Angry Bank 1 too rich and random misfire.

Firstly, thanks in in advance for the info.
Here's the deal. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a slight hesitation and possible misfire in my 2006 F-150. This was within 30 miles of my last fill up. Shortly thereafter my CEL came on. I had the codes checked and got p0300(random misfire), P0301 (Cylinder 1 misfire) and P0172 (System too rich bank 1). I cleared out the codes and drove it for awhile. The hesitation and misfire got a little more noticeable but not bad. Had the codes checked again and got the 0172. I swapped cylinder 1&2 coil packs to see if it would show a code for bank 2 instead of bank 1. And as you might guess, I was not that lucky. So in desperation i reverted to the ages old method for locating misfires and started disconnecting coil packs and was not able to find it that way. The only other likely thing i could think of would be the fuel pressure regulator. This i couldn't find. I did however find a sensor on the drivers side on the fuel rail with a vacuum line and an electrical connection. I disconnected this and noticed no change in the engines performance. So folks, What is this sensor on the fuel rail and could i t be my culprit?

Again, Thanks.

motor? mileage? last tuneup? unplug the coil you put on cylinder 2 and see if it makes a difference. if it doesnt then you need that coil. and the rich code is probably because of the misfire.

A 2006 with 2 coil packs ? That can't be a Ford, not an 06 anyway.

2006 xlt 4x4 with the 5.4 liter. I've got about 40K on the odometer. I did disconnect cylinder 2 and it made a difference. Haven't had a tune up. Checked the condition of the plugs and everything looks good.

I mistyped in my first post. I swapped cylinder 1 coil pack with cylinder 5.

Every cylinder besides 4 and 8 have been disconnected. My main question is regarding the sensor on the fuel rail and its function.

If it's an early 2006, I'd guess a sticking/leaking fuel injector on cylinder 1.

ok so you put the coil from cylinder 1 to cylinder 5. you unplugged all but 4 and 8 and they made a difference so theres nothiong wrong with them.
just either have a scanner put on and check the misfire data. have you done any head work? any work at all other than normal services?

Yeah cylinder 1 and 5 coil packs were swapped. No work has been done.

are early '06 models notorious for bad injectors?
