CR should be 9.2 or 9.3 to 1. 44 CC heads, 30cc dish. These are the 5.4 pistons that sit higher in the hole and have the lower ring so it really screws with the CR.

Negative, some, by 25% I think did have cast. I use to work at the plant that builds them having to know by codes which was cast vs forged. Plus, the plant that casted them was right next door, that helps too!!

You gota love the UPS man!!!! Christmas is coming early, got these yesterday. Rings are on the way as well along with a new custom water pump pulley from ASP Racing that will allow me to increase my crank pulley in order to get the necessary RPM and PSI out of the Vortech.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out and what kind of power you make.

I am thinking about doing the same with my engine sometime soon.

Good luck.

Sorry, this is all I have for now...parts still keep showing up. Block is still at the machine shop. I'm in no rush though, there is still some progress being made for the cams used with the TF heads. So, I'm waiting it out to see what develops there. Because the valves changed a little in the heads, there is some room for improvement with custom ground cams.

I'm getting a little closer, I know you all are tired of seeing parts and no assembly.

Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump

Timing Cover Painted with Heat Resistant Aluminum Paint

Precision Oil Pumps Melling Pump

I'm curious to see how this pump works.....their work seems impressive and read a lot of good things about the owner and his background.

MELLING 4.6 FORD SOHC OIL PUMP, Blueprinted by PRECISION OIL PUMPS. The pump is a brand new Melling FORD 4.6 SOHC pump #M176. Each pump is disassembled in groups of ten, The passages radiused and blended by hand. The Housings & gears are Deburred by a vibratory polisher then cleaned. Gears are then sprayed with TECH-LINE moly-coating and oven curred. Three Critical Clearances are checked on reassembly;(1)Gear to Housing,(2)Mesh or Backlash,(3) Gear to Cover-Plate. With Ten gear sets to choose from, One set with correct clearances will be installed. The relief valve is deburred with emmory-cloth and is re-installed with the existing spring & new hardware, Each cover plate is also deburred and is fastened with aircraft quality bolts. Also included is a High-Pressure shim (can be added after installation)if you need more pressure. All pumps are bench tested.
I also picked up a Canton 7qt oil pan and windage tray.

Bear with me..won't be too much longer before you get to see some assembly.

slow progress but getting there.....apparently my machinist took a little vacation. should be back tomorrow and then I'll start putting some pressure on him to get the block done. Not too many parts left to buy, just waiting to find out what happens with the cams after they have time to do some testing.

I saw that thread a week or so ago.....I'm starting to get antsy...I did stop by the machine shop today and he had the block up on the stand starting to work on it. Should be done by Friday I hope.....

I'm not sure quite yet on the cams. I've got 2 people I'm talking to but not sure which one I'm going with yet.

Finally a little more progress!
I know if you've seen one, you've seen them all but here's another....
Block back from machine shop, magnafluxed, bored, decked, and honed.
I got around to putting a new coat of VHT high temp paint on it this weekend. By the way, the VHT seems to work a whole lot better than the Rust-o-leum. Dries much easier and seems to have a tougher finish.

Disregard the missing core plug....pulled two out to measure them. Going back with a fresh set of brass plugs.

Second step is actually examining all the pistons very carefully. Lucky I did, there was a piece of aluminum shaving in one of the gas holes. Something else I learned from all my reading, I'm also very lightly sanding the ring groove where the holes are, just in case there are any sharp edges or burs that could cause the ring to stick. Using 400 grit sandpaper I'm just barely hitting the area where the holes are in case there are sharp edges where they were drilled.

Crankshaft cleaned, polished bearing journals, and balanced. Had the entire assembly balanced, crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, and harm balancer.
