Which fan does what...if I am seeing right and one is larger than the other?

Good post, good photos and very good job.

Cooler A/C would be justification for me since mines seems to NEVER keep up when it gets hot.
Thanks for sharing your truck!

Optical illusion from the angle of the camera, they are actually both the same size and CFM. The fan on the passenger side is controlled on the thermostat and cycles as needed. If I am running without the A/C this fan keeps the temperatures 195 without me having to touch a switch.

The difference in the performance of the A/C was a huge selling point for me. With a black truck and no tint to speak of the A/C would start to blow out air around 45-50 when sitting in traffic in hot Texas days even in the recirculate mode. Now sitting at a standstill in traffic with both e-fans running the air blows out a constant 39 degrees on my meat thermometer mounted in the vents. It will literally freeze you out even at idle on a hot day, what a difference!

Other points worth mentioning the MPG has made a strong 1.75 MPG jump, this tank has averaged 18mpg 50% city 50% hwy.

The truck is much quieter at freeway speeds, cant hear that fan dragging air anymore.

Acceleration has improved as has passing power and low end torque.

Pat, this thread has me intrigued.

I was looking at how you have the fans bolted to the what looks like 1/8" by 1" aluminum flat bar. Exactly how close to the radiator fins are the bolt heads that mount the fans to the aluminum bars?

We actually shimmed the bracket between that top bolt and the radiator with 2 washers, so roughly 1/4" away.

Im not sure the exact thickness of the bar but i believe its 3/4" wide, if that helps to get things on a better scale in your mind

I saw solid 1-1.5 mpg gain with mine, im honestly suprised scott's jumped up that much. With that much gain it shouldnt take long to make your money back

If we do mine I have some countersinks and can gather up some countersunk fasteners, for some extra clearance.

Mine i used nuts that have a thick washer base clamped around the bottom of it to get the 1/4" clearance... Even once the brackets go through some heat cycles there is still pleanty of clearance between them and the radiator.

And btw the pictures were taken while we were still mocking it up so didnt have final clearance in the pictures, notice that the fans arent wired in at all?

Yeah, I noticed that. I'm just getting the visual of the install in my mind is all, at least the mounting of the fans. The wiring is another story. You can handle that.

yah thats pretty much how we did Scotts, i was working on the wiring the whole time and starting him on the easier tasks, we worked together on the brackets because alot of the bracket fabrication needs 3 or 4 hands to get it all lined up.....

Also you will need to figure out where you want to mount the switches. If you want to copy the other guys or if you want to copy me

Options are what it's all about. So the switches just bypass the fans to run on/off by the switch?
