Scott's Efan build, complete write up
Scott showed up saturday evening, we finished the shopping for stuff for the project, we hung out looked over my truck, made a plan, enjoyed a few beers and crashed. We got up early, and started working just after 7am.
We started by poping the stock fan and shroud out, and started to mock up some fan brackets http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/DSC05244.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/DSC05245.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/DSC05246.jpg New hardware all lined up (minus washers) http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/DSC05250.jpg PLEASE DONT POST UNTIL I GET ALL THE PICS/ STORY COMPLETE |

All in all it took about 12 hours of work, we stopped for lunch and to go grab some washers, finished the work with a few tiny breather breaks, but we worked pretty much the whole time.
We took his truck to A&W for quick dinner before he hit the road, and then I could tweak the controller and get it perfect. He has a scan gauge and was watching the water temps before and after the fan install, and after he is 3-5* cooler at idle with AC on in traffic. And he said AC is blowing 5* cooler in traffic at idle. He has a small cooking thermometer in his AC vent, just like I do. He said he actually got cold in traffic coming home  |
damn 12 hours ! lol nice work though!

any noticeable gains in MPG? how about acceleration? What Fans are you running?
So the only way to turn your fans on is the switches? They're not controlled by the motor temp to come on automatically? Looks good. Want to do this myself. |
I hope that's Scott's GF with th girly flip flops!

Acceleration has improved by a decent margin, it does not have to downshift so early now and can hold O/D on hills much better Best if Patrick answers your other questions as he is the one with the knowledge regarding this |

One of the fans is wired up to a temp controller. When the engine idles, the fan stays on for about 1 min and will cycle off if it has cooled down the water enough, then come back on when it gets to target temp again. The controller is fully adjustable from 160-230*
The fans i ordered from ebay, i can find the seller's name if you are interested in ordering some for yourself. When i did my Efans, i noticed 1mpg gain over all driving city/hwy. I imagine scott will see similar results |
....i had one of those fans it seemed way lighter duty then an other fan i had and about 2 months ago it went out
nice install hey pat do you know if that temp probe wire can be cut? i kinda layed mine across a positive terminal and caught a relay on fire and it melted the temp probe wire..........my relays are well insulated now lol |
