are all supercrews with the 4.6 like this?
i have an 04 supercrew with a 4.6 and the thing is a complete dog.. its really pretty hard to even get on the highway unless i have a long onramp to build up some sort of speed... i'm just curious, is the motor REALLY this gutless for this big of a truck? it has flowmasters on it but is there another brand of muffler that these ford motors take too better? what about an intake or some type of tune? i need to wake this thing up a little bit, its horrible to drive..
any help is appreciated

Without comming across as a smart ***, I have to wonder why someone buys a truck that weighs as much as a Screw with the 4.6...either way I think the true answer is most likely that the motor in all reality is underpowered for such a large and heavy truck. The flowmasters are also killing your low end torque.

This body style is heavy, any cab.
Of course, the supercrew is going to be the heaviest. Coupled with the often labeled underpowered 4.6l, and you've got the pretty slow truck.
I've got the 4.6l in my supercab and stock is was pretty slow. With the addition of CAI, exhaust, and custom tunes it is now starting to feel more like a 5.4l. With the additional cost of aftermarket parts, it probably would have been more cost-efficient to go with the 5.4l in the first place.
I love my 4.6l though. I considered my STX like a barebones setup made for modding. Everything thats done to it was done by my hand. It may be a little underpowered, but its reliable as hell, and with some mods will perform better.

Any time you wish to strap a 7,000Lb trailer to your 4.6, I'll do the same to my 5.4 Dog, & we will see which DOG, makes it to the finish line, & which one is still sittin in the Dog House!.................

Regear or just stay out of OD.
4.6s like revs, and a SuperCrew with 3.55s or 3.73s is not cutting it.
