v8 5.0 improvements

Hello people, I'm hoping some of you can help me.I just inherited a 1996 f150 xlt with a v8 5.0 under the hood. The truck is in very good condition inside and out.
I'm asking for ideas on how to improve this engine for better general performance and reliability.I don't want to turn it into a race truck or anything like that.Oh,it was a k & n fipk allready.if that helps.
I thank you for taking time to read this and appreciate any help, suggestions received.

see: True Dual Exhaust??

Tech Performance & Engineering has received it’s Official California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order Number "D-589", which permits the advertisement, sales and installation in California of the Torque Monster Headers (p/n 9601-50-EX-1) manufactured by Tech Performance & Engineering for the 1996 to 2001 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer vehicles, equipped with the 5.0 liter V8 Engine.

As far as reliability goes, you already have one of the most reliable engines ever produced by any Co! Just keep it in good tune, & you will go like forever!.........

Put a Comp Cams cam in it. Nothing big. One of their High Energy cams will be perfect. Call them for exact one.

If you can't figure out how to edit a pic and make it smaller, for now it may be best to change your sig to a text-only one.

If I were you, I'd go onto www.corral.net and look for 5.0L performance improvements. There are many thing you can do that won't cost you a penny. There are many more that will only cost you a few bucks.

Oh, BTW Taylor brand wires are better than the Ford Motorsport wires. I ran the Motorsport wires for years, until I was educated by better. I have performed ohm testing on both wire sets...and Taylor are way better. Stay with new OEM sparkplugs, is my personal recommendation. If you want to do an ignition system upgrade, go with a hotter coil. A higher profile cam would be a good purchase and power adder. Another thing to test....take off the distributor cap. Grap the shaft which the rotor is attached. Make sure it does not shift from side to side....if it does, get a new distributor...this will cause misfires at high rpms.
