Question True Dual Exhaust??

Ok so I don't have a F150..but I have a Bronco...it's an '87 w/5.0 EFI...basically same layout as an F150....I'm wondering if anyone has used Mustang 5.0L headers on the Truck 5.0L? and, If I can modify a Stock '87-'93 Mustang "H" pipe w/cats to fit the underside of the bronco...thanks

I dunno Dan. There's a lot of stuff under your Bronco(axle, transfercase etc) that might cause problems. Why not use headers made for your Bronco? You can also buy aftermarket high-flow cats. This might be a better way to go.

Dan, I put headers and true dual exhaust with high-flow cats on my '92 5.0 F-150 and it worked great. I used BBK headers, but Ford Motorsport makes some also which would probably be better. (The BBK had individual flanges which did not line up exactly on the drivers side) The exhaust was cut just after the 02 sensors. I used two Dynomax 2.5 inch cats and 18 inch glasspacks, then 2 inch pipe over the axle to keep plenty of backpressure. I picked up 1.5 - 2 MPG and I could feel an increase in power, plus the nice glasspack sound. I did not have a cross over pipe, the exhaust place did not want to go to the trouble. I should have insisted. I will next time.

Someone was talking about Mustang headers fitting on a truck 5.0, but I am not absolutely sure...

I have true duals on my 89, come out the manifolds, and are factory to after the o2 sensors placement, and then true duals after, with no cat and no pre-heater, and turbo mufflers...Very quiet, but looks great!

Well the reason I ask is 'cause I have 2 sets of shorty Mustang 5.0 headers, and 1 factory "H" pipe from my Mustang...The Mustang is an 89, and now sports a new 306, Dynomax Ceramic Headers, and Bassini High flow Cat "X" w/Bassini after cat exhaust...so the spare parts are just laying around in my garage, collecting dust.....thought I might be able to use them rather than buy more parts....thanks

According to the guys on the ford-trucks 80-96 model mailing list, headers from a Mustang 5.0 WILL work on a truck. Many said they switched to the 'stang pipes after the truck's manifolds cracked.

Personally, I've never tried it. But "they" say it works.
