Best way to change fuel pump on 98?

OK, i did a search and didnt find it right off, and im trying to figure out which route is best to take for replacing my 98 ford's fuel pump.

I have heard take off the bed, well what is involved in doing this? Also heard drop the gas tank...I just need some advice which route to take...Thanks

If you have help and no bed liner I would unbolt the bed and slide it back just enough to clear the cab. After clearing the cab tilt the bed about a foot on the driver side and pull the pump. Don't forget to unbolt the gas filler neck from the bed.

will it be accessible before the tank straps are loosened? And how about where the fuel comes in? is there a pipe or hose to disconnect? Thankis for the replies, ill be jumping on it here in a couple hours...Making sure it wont be raining...

Here's what I can remember from a recent pump change:

- filler hose and vent tube at the filler neck
- two fuel lines
- one large plug at the rear - twists and pulls out
- one small plug to the fuel pump and sender
- two slide on vent tubes
- more?

Keep crap from falling into the tank and hoses when the hoses are disconnected with baggies, etc. Buy a small telescoping mirror and keep looking up top as you begin to lower the tank. Start with an empty tank, of course.

The best place to siphon the residual fuel out of the tank is that large plug in the back that ONELOWF mentioned .
