Temp gauge
Temp gauge
Hey folks I got an electric Phantom Autometer temp gauge. I've read where to install the sensor unit (inlet hose to heater core) via this pic: https://www.f150online.com/galleries...5516&anum=8198
But that engine is different that mine and its a 4.6L I think is a 2001 too. Anyways, My heater hose connections to the engine are way in the back near the firewall, 1 connection is really far back and the other is somewhat higher and closer to the front, does anyone know which is the inlet hose? And also what size barbed fittings would fit that? 5/8"?
Thank you!

Do you see the Aluminum stem sprouting up towards the rear passenger side of the manifold ? That's your return..
A steel line runs from behind your water pump on top of the block, real close to the knock sensor and then angles up behind the passenger side head - you can barly see the hose clamp on that one in the pic - look close and you'll see the clamp.. Anyway , that's the inlet hose.
Keep in mind that hose also has a Solid Brass reducer inside that protects the heater core from pressure damage - make sure you incorperate that with the new setup..
Good Luck

Oh ok so the one that is easier to see and get at is the return line, great! That figures lol.
Now this reducer you speak of, is that incorporated thorough the entire inlet hose or just at the point where the hose and inlet connect?

OK this may change things I have a engine block heater, did this replace the freeze plug or is the freeze plug in a diff. location than the heater hookup?

I could see it reducing flow, but not pressure ??
No flame, just want to understand...
