or retarded timing
No, advanced timing causes spark knock - i.e. it's all fired off before the piston reaches TDC. Higher octane fuel burns slower.

Octane is added for premature detentation from the fuel being compressed. Igniting before the spark is sent.
If you advance the timing the spark is what it igniting the fuel, which is wha tis suppose to happen, when it's advanced, then the piston is lower in the cycle so the A/F is under less pressure. Adding octane will not help that. In that case the fuel is being ignited by the spark like it's suppose to when the ignition tells it to, not from the fuel being compressed. If timing is advanced, then you can add all the octane you want and all you'll do is lose power and MPG, and stiil have your problem.

It's not any slower burning it burns at the same rate, and it's not any hotter or colder. It just wont ignite from being compressed as easily.

Well , The Power windows have been working great since .. - The computer was just buggy

Sometimes just zapping the parameters (PRAM) will straighten her up..

If you want to TEMP fix your manifold - High heat Gold W/Copper , made by Permatex will seal between the manifold and head . It has a 700 degree rating and your only @ 250 - 300 degrees in that area. It only 5 bucks and that chit is awesome..

Good Luck
Yea the head rounded 7 mm slipped and couldn;t get a 6.5 mm on it. It was siezed inside the COP bushing too.... I was going to just glue the cop back together and use it, but I couldn;t get the brass bushing for teh cop off the bolt. That one was a PIA, the others came right out no problems.

Didnt me, it was raining when I got up this AM and rained with occasional down pours enough to knock satelite out for a few minutes several times, off and on until about 2 in the afternoon. Then sprinkles off and on since.
