Spark Plug Questions For '02 5.4L

Does the '02 5.4L 2V have plugs similar to the '04 and higher 5.4L 3V? Also, is the recommended change interval 100K miles or is it 60K? My rig is at 100K miles and I had the plugs changed at about 60K a few years back.

For those of you that have had the Ford dealer perform the 100K mile service, what did the dealer charge you?

Thanks!

No the '02 plugs are different from the '04s and around here we suggest 60k on the change and Ford says 100k.

I originally changed mine at 60,000 and you know what...the plugs looked great, and the new plugs made zero difference in the truck. Did not run any better, fuel mileage didn't increase, didn't idle smooter, nothing. But peace of mind is gotta be worth something. I would not sweat going 100,000 miles on this truck after my experience.

I've never been to a shop for a plug change.

I did a tune up on my wifes Lexus at 70,000 and had the exact same results as my truck.

I agree that the concern with older model F-150's is not necessarily a real concern. However, I had the dealer change the plugs on my 1999 5.4 at about 85,000 miles. Seemed like a good idea and the mechanics agreed.

It is still running just like it always did which is fine at 101,000 miles now. Mine was more a concern of age and a week-end only driven truck than anything else.

The newer trucks have a whole different issue especially if not driven daily.

Does it make a difference on stock plugs if you have aftermarket parts such as an Xcal2 from troyer, a K&N intake, flomaster exhaust...

My 01 Screw 5.4t has 57,000 miles and I have had the aftermarket parts for about 15,000 miles. Should I change my plugs out soon???
