noisey engine

hi everyone,am new to hear.looks like a great site.

anywho, have been reading some posts with the same problems i'm having.
my engine has some ticking which goes to almost a knocking sound after it warms up.My truck is a 2001 f150 lariat 4x4 with a 5.4. with 70,000 mi. does this year of engine
have cam phasers as well?

Cam phaser started with the '04 3V engines.

have you ever changed your COPs or plugs, just did mine and it quieted the ticking, although it's getting hard to tell over my CV's but thats another project for another weekend. Also some have claimed the type of oil (syn or reg) makes the engine quieter. good luck

have noticed something else,when i put it in gear with my foot on the brake the ticking goes away.the tranny was replaced @ 40,000 miles.could i have
a loose torque convertor bolt?

Are there any Codes
I would check y the tranny was replaced and if they touch the converter
