You will have to use "O2 eliminator" for the rear sensor. What type of muffler are you going to use, 40 or 50 series?

Replace your four cats with 2 high flow converters and run true duels with an X-Pipe.Use staight through design mufflers such as magnaflow or dynomax. If you have the $$ put long tube headers on also. The result you will gain power instead of losing and it will sound better!!!Just my 2cents.

Cats

I have the exact setup Kevin 24 is talking about, two high flows, true duals,Bassani X pipe and 2 Magnaflow mufflers(p/n 14377).This is the setup to get the most out of your exhaust. When you install your high flows, keep your rear O2 sensors or you will get a cel .Depending on what mufflers you install you'll have a nice rumble @ idle and a nice roar in the cab when you mash the gas pedal to the floor.I picked up more power in the middle, between 65-90mph,its a smooth ride,I dont need to catch passing gear, just move my right closer to the floor.Install your high flows and enjoy your increase in power and sound.Good luck.

Do a advanced search on mil eliminators!!Tons of info on here.
Are you planning on ditching all your cats or just the back 2??
Basicaly a mil eliminator will make it so you don't kick a cel after you remove your converters.

o2 eliminator

O2 eliminators,or MILS(malfunction indication light)are an electrical harness that you install between your O2 sensor and your wire harness for your O2 sensor that "tricks" the computer by sending a signal the rear cats are operating within the limits they need to as to not trip a cel.I also have the mils because of a cel I had because of the high flows. To make a very long story short, the rear O2 sensors were not reading the exhaust correctly due to the less restrictive high flows tripping the cel. After many e-mails and calls to performance shops that specialize in performance exhaust, another member from this site(I wish I could remember his name)replied and told me to install a set of spark plug anti-foulers on the sensors and install them back in the pipe.I figured I dont have anything to loose, try it.It worked,I cleared the code w/ my tuner and the light has not come back on.The anti-foulers pull the sensors out of the direct stream of exhaust, while allowing a much smaller amount of exhaust gas into the fouler to be read by the sensor. This fix worked,so if you get a cel after your high flow install, try this first.I hope this helped, good luck.

The 02 simulator is a simple to install electronic device that sends an "all is well" command to your ECM so you don't trip a heated circuit malfunction. I have used them before and they perform flawlessly. They are relatively inexpensive on ebay, sometime $30 or less for the cheaper models. There are some more expensive models that are direct connection with no wire splicing required. They have no effect on the performance of your vehicle, they just keep the dam cel light off.

As for removing them, its a personal choice.....yes it is federally illegal, an no one in their right mind would recommend it. However, if you elect to do it there isn't really a performance loss, but with an extremely high flowing exhaust on these newer engines you risk backpressure thats to low that can cause interal engine damage, although its rare.

I used to magnaflow jeep 6 cylinder converters on mine, and at this point I suspect that after two years they have become "plugged" and are causing my CEL light problems. Use something that can handle the load, they don't cost that much and aren't hard to install either

The stock cats actually flow pretty good, you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference without them.

i never lost and low end when i put my long tubes on gutted cats and a ravin muffler. my torque curve on the low end didnt move at all its much flatter now and peaks higher. but as for low end torque that is made due to the cam profiles and intake profiles of these engines.

It didn't hurt mine.

Your truck won't run any different, but its exhaust will smell like ****. Trust me, for that reason alone, it isn't worth it.

You mean I don't have to put these high flows on? That's the big hold up here - I don't have room after the long tubes to get them basterds on . My trucks sitten w/open headers because of it.

I don't wanna loose any torque.

I guess those guys over in exhaust don't know beans..

I was refering to taking off all 4 cats. From everything i have ever heard it kills your low end power.I very well could be wrong!
So what you guys are saying you can ditch all your converters and notice no power loss??It seems like it wouldn't have enough backpressure?
