OK jacka$$ - Why do you constantly try to compare your 2nd gear numbers to anything else ?
If the dyno is calibrated correctly AND the operator knows how to run it correctly AND the test is done with all parameters being input correctly, the HP output of the engine will be nearly the same in either 2nd or 3rd gear.
That is why you can measure the power output of cars with way different gearing and the measurements are still meaningful. The dyno takes into account speed, RPM and time. The result is a calculation that uses all three variables.
In your example, your RPMs would be high, your spin-up time would be shorter than if in 3rd, but your speed would be way down. Do the math and the power output is revealed...
Stop being stupid - the 5.4L makes more power, period.
I am still amazed you constantly go out of your way to make yourself look like a mental midget... Give it a rest already.

wouldn't they be higher in 2nd than in 3rd due to the gearing?

ive posted several times what the difference between 1st 2nd and 3rd gear dyno numbers come out to be. the numbers i posted were not doing a power pull it was during a tunning session where i only took the motor up to 4800rpm. no 5500 which is my shift.. dynoing in any gear higher than 1:1 ratio changing rear end gearing or tire size effects the amount of power a dyno will read at the rear wheels. ive never been to one dyno shop that inputs all of the variables to read correctly. most of them just throw them on there and get a reading. in 1st gear the engine isnt working as hard. in 2nd its working harder in 3rd its working its hardest highest fuel demand so on so forth thus is generates the most power. think of it this way if u want to read damn near what the fly wheel HP - transmission loss is. hook the drive shaft straight to the roller and u will read it. but when ur reading from the wheel its less. because your spinning a gear that either makes the load on the engine less or greater along with tire. a taller tire will register more power than a smaller tire.

watch the mountain climb as the gears go up. power needed to move the vehicle increases as u accelerate thus the engine produces more power. same reason why u dont really see peak boost untill ur in 3rd or 4th gear if u are turbo'd

HI!... Well when I tried dynoing my truck in 2ND gear my #'s were higher than in 3RD gear. HMMMMMMM.
BTW untill you ACTUALLY run your truck in 3RD gear on the dyno, your #'s mean absolutely nothing, like much of what you say..............

OOH.... You got Janked on!

Keep it up guys!
P.S. Neal, My truck runs between 8 and 9:1 a/f on WOT, but when I get up and around the 4,500-5,000 range it starts leaning out.... to 10.5 or 11:1 ... Do you experience this with your truck? Or does it stay at a set a/f ratio? Thanks!

HI!... My truck ran 14.7A/F at idle and 12.9-13.2 at WOT. The A/F ratio will move up and down as you move the throttle. But if your throttle is constant than so should your A/F reading.

u speak so much but have no proof not even a dyno of your all mighty 5.4 that didnt last a couple months
