Is 4.6L Superior to 5.4L
Motor alone was around 9 grand. That doesn't include all the other stuff as well as the Supercharger on it. My tuner says it will handle more than what I got to throw at it. He says on pump gas, we could see between 450 and 525 at the rear wheels before maxxing out MAF and 42# injectors.
Bartak1, I dig you man. Thats one of the main reasons for staying with the 4.6 motor. They will never imagine it happening to them by a 4.6. I plan on having 4.6 of some kind on liscens plate so they know it's in there to

In my opinion, they are both nice engines, and can withstand lots of power if built correctly. I just happened to have the 4.6 in my truck, so thats what I stayed with.

Lets see it- somethin like that , you should have some pics somewhere right?
Haven't even seen it myself since I dropped it off at Mike Troyers ( you may have heard of him) at the first of july this year. There are pics in my gallery on another ford site though. FTW hint hint
, but they are a couple of years old.

Now Im not a 4.6 freak here, my next truck is going to have a 5.4 in it so I can go faster. However, I love the though of the little underdog 4.6 being built up and modded to smoke a 5.4 or anything else. If I had the money to make the 4.6 completley haul a$$ I would do that instead of starting off with a 5.4 just because I like the idea. Granted, a 5.4 with the same mods will be faster...but thats just not as fun/challenging starting off with the top dog.
My truck is no rocketship thats for sure, but it can stay right beside a stock 5.4. Its pretty funny to race someone with a 5.4 who thinks they will blow your doors off because you only have the lil 4-6, and you hang right along them or beat them. If they are modded at all Im screwed though...my buddies chipped 5.4 blows my doors off
This thread is getting interesting though lol.
Jbrew, is that your truck with the L blower on it? If so....you know uhhh....we'll race some other time

Bartak , anyone ever tell you that you ask to many questions
Nah , It's a pic of a 99 lightning for sale right now on eBay.

I know! Right!? That's like one of the funniest things I have EVER read here!!!! That was funny as hell!

Hey, modded is modded.
Klitch
Bumper dragging might look cool, but it's scary as hell, and when you come down, you come down HARD (really easy to break s^^t like that)! Drifting into the other lane when your wheels are in the air will scare the s^^t out of you, not to mention that tracks tend to get pissy after you rip out and SHRED the 60' and 330' foam reflector boxes four or five times! This isn't some pansy a$$ 500hp Charger that can throw the front end up for 10', we're talking nose up damn near to the 60' mark. Trucks are baaaaad about it too. They have a much higher CG than say a Mustang or Camaro. It's bad enough that you can't see where you're going and you have to look out the side windows. You leave enough space between the wheelie bar and the ground to allow for a nice weight transfer, but not enough to let the back end start to push up and under the front end or lift the front tires off the ground. You have to keep _some_ weight on that front end to steer the damn thing.
Look at Pro-Stock. They don't do wheelies, they just squat, wrinkle, and GO!

It takes all of the idiots a few minutes to do the math, but they get it eventually...

LOL , you guys shouldn't be eaton round your comps during a debate.
You put 9 grand in a 4.6, it had better be blown. If not, you're going to have to spin it to a gazillion RPM to make any serious power from it. And that would totally suck ***** in a truck. The only way you can make big power is to move big air. There's only three ways to do that, force it, use big cubes, or really spin it *read in Mike Tyson voice* supa fast! Thusly, the _only_ way to do that with an N/A motor the size of a 4.6 is to spin it reallyreallyreallyreally faaaaaaaaaaast. I mean, spin the living snot out of it! ZIIIIIIIIIIIP! To pull 500+ out of it, you're talking 7,500-8,000 RPM, seriously. You gotta get that torque going pretty early in a truck to move its fat a$$. You can mod a 4.6 and do a good bit better than stock, but nothing serious unless you build it SERIOUS and spin it into the next dimension or give up on N/A.
And the 5.4 is not that much better to be honest. It's still a little itty bitty motor when you get down to it. It's a cute, little, fuzzy, cuddly, 330, after all.
So, still, same problem. To make real power, you have to huff it, juice it, or spin the s^^t out of it.
My next project will be a 598 big block in a 1965 F100. My uncle bought me the donor truck from a friend of his. We're talking 1200hp with nothing but a carburetor, N/A! And the saddest part is, this build will be about 33% cheaper than the DOHC and damn near as fast. Not anywhere NEAR as COOL as a big turbo'd DOHC, but still........ NOTHING IN THIS WORLD beats the sound of a wound up big block (well, maybe the moan of a hot blonde, but that's about it). Another buddy of mine did this same model of truck about 10 years ago in a midnight blue, looked gooooooooooooooood.

.Yeah, if I somehow end up going that route, Ive always wanted to get a pair of these...

Put one on each front fender, right under the F150 emblem, or else rip the F150/Triton V8 badge off and put the 4.6 emblem there.
Rubs it in a little more that way...when you beat someone they just assume you have the big engine so they dont look so bad
Jbrew, gotcha...HA. Lol, actually I saw that pic at about 9:00am today and I wasnt able to reply, but the whole day I was like "Dang, he's blown??" Haha, you had me going for awhile
Oh yeah, I like to have food around during debates so when I get owned I can just shove a bunch of food in my mouth and start mumbling stuff in a way that makes it sound like I just owned the other person...Im a sore loser haha.
Zach, cool decal there. That would never work my area though, people would be confused as heck...seems like everyone I know around here thinks these trucks still have 302's and 351's!!!! Of course that would probably win me the race-all the hicks here would be like "281??? Well that dere kid is darned dumbed retarded..." and as they sit there and think about how retarded I must be I dust them....of course it really would be a race, but at least Id get to the finish line first and make myself feel good.
Klitch, they are 281's...

i had to reread it but if im not mistaken the title of the thread says "Is 4.6L Superior to 5.4L " it doesnt say " Is a modded 4.6L Superior to a stock 5.4L"
my truck sits at 5,600+ lbs with my fat A$$ in it
i'd actually be suprised to beat one of the older body styled 150's with a 4.6 for the simple fact that i out weigh it by quite a bit..
but who knows.. maybe the fact that i make 85% of my 365 torque at 1,500 RPMS means something
