my truck sits at 5,600+ lbs with my fat A$$ in it

i'd actually be suprised to beat one of the older body styled 150's with a 4.6 for the simple fact that i out weigh it by quite a bit..

but who knows.. maybe the fact that i make 85% of my 365 torque at 1,500 RPMS means something

just because u make power down low.. means its not going to make alot up top making it not a fast truck.

if

u put over 9 grand into a 5.4 it will fail you atleast 3 times before u hit 5,000 miles and need to be rebuilt time after time... just like neal.. sorry had to use em as an example:-p

Ego's, ego's, ego's..... This thread is be best in a long time. It has has been a long time coming. I have seen the bickering between those who feel that the 4.2 is superior to the 4.6 and those who don't. Now the top dogs are finally going at it.

Yeah, they all look pretty similar. That one's an 06 FL Columbia w/ a 600hp C15 Cat. I've got a couple 05 Century's too, much nicer trucks IMHO. I prefer the KW's but the FL's are cheaper and lighter. To be honest, the only reason for the T2000's (very expensive and A LOT heavier, but the inside is like a Cadillac) was for their onboard data network which I can use to build fuel-use databases for certain routes.

I had a lot of trouble with the 05's blowing the output tube out of the compressor, ripping the threads out of the head with it. FL said it was Cat's problem, Cat said it was FL's problem, and in every case, the dealers wanted me to pay >$4k to replace the compressor and then take it up with FL company for reimbursement. I DON'T THINK SO!

Those sound pretty nice but 600HP what in the word you need that much power for. - You have wheelie bars on them - hehe , couldn't resist..

If I was haulin gravel train - then I could see it, 600hp wouldn't sweat W/185, 000 lbs behind it - It wouldn'tstop on a dime though LOL .

Flat beds dude. Coast to coast, long haul, flat-beds. It's very, very common to have them loaded to max, or at least 30K+. If it were a van, it wouldn't need anywhere near that. Those loads are so heavy, we often have to plan the amount of fuel that's carried just so it's not over at the scales. Last month we ran a load of some type of aggregate in these giant bags that's used for making asphalt. That load was only 70 pounds short of max.

We also get permitted loads from time to time, and you got to have the big motors for that.

Yes, dead heading, it will light up and smoke the tires!
