I did my first oil change at 500 miles and used the Motorcraft 5W-20 and FL-820S combination.

It looks like I will only be putting about 1000 miles per year on this truck, so I have been going back and forth about what I want to do with oil changes from here on out. I'm leaning towards going with Mobil 1 5W-20 oil and Motorcraft FL-820S filters, and changing them every 12-months regardless of mileage....

I agree. I used to use synthetic Valvoline Syn Power 5W30.. It helps with starting in the cold and also is about $23CDN for 4 liters. The Fram filters still do it for me, I have been using Motorcraft fitlers latley. and regular PetroCan 5w30. Its the best because its cheap and I change oil at 5000KM or 3000mi.

I use Amsoil 5W30 oil and filters in my Screw, one ton V10 work van and my wife's Aerostar. I am able to get it wholesale because of the business. I went to synthetic to take advantage of the longer service intervals. With the miles we put on, it seems I was under one or two of these vehicles at least once a month when running dino. With the Screw, which is mostly hwy use, I change the filter at 6000 miles and oil and filter at 12000. The work van is constant stop and go. Filter at 3500 miles, oil and filter at 7000. The Aerostar is on the same schedule as the Screw. I've been running this oil for two years like this with no probs except for a filter that was double gasketed once, but I caught it right away.

I use Motorcraft 5W-20 and a FL-820 filter. I change every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.

I been using valvoline 10w30 (i had a bunch of it lying around) and an fl20s motorcraft filter in the truck. mobil1 10w-30, half a bottle of synthetic lucas, and a fl20s filter in the thunerbird cause it was burning a little bit of oil.

Now that all that 10w-30 valvoline is gone i'm gonna start using 5w 30 mobil 1 in the truck and seen as how motorcraft filters are supposed to be made by fram here soon i'm gonna start using wix/napa filters again. But thats gonna be a while seen as how i still have 2 or 3 motorcraft filters lying around here

Fram = Orange Can Of DEATH

I use Mobile One or Royal Purple with a Mobile one or K&N Or Pure oil filters.
Change twice a year or 7,500 mile. Use good oil and good filters and you won't have any problems, hopefully.

I bought the truck in Dec, first oil change was at the dealer with motorcraft, but switched to Mobil 1 synthetic last weekend, with a PureOne premium filter. Was thinking about changing it again at 5000, but I might go longer judging by how long you guys are going with that oil.
