Another thing to consider is that the 5.4 comes with a heavier rear end (9.75 " vs 8.8") and the bigger rear end causes more drag - especialy if you have limited slip.

So, I'll come back to my original proposition. Drive both as see what you think. It's your choice, not ours.

4.6 and 5.4 have same 8.8 rear end if u have the F150.... now F250 yes has a 9.75 and a 5.4 V10 or PS 6.0l

I believe that is incorrect. 5.4s should have a 9.75" from the factory.

Talking

I'm going to have to go with Faster150 this time.

Only because PONY_DRIVER has been right the last seven times in a row and he's got to be due for a tumble.

I happen to have a 5.4L.
I hope this can be settled without me having to bend over and looking at my own rear end.

Raoul,

Have one of the goats look for you! Ok here it is. The F-150 with the 5.4 has a 9.75 rear differential, the 4.2 and 4.6 have the 8.8. The F250 LD or the F-150 with 7700# option has a 10.25 differential regardless of the motor.

Chit, the higer I go the more it's going to hurt when I fall.

What about front ends, how big are they? If it's not 8.8" and I drive my truck only in revers will it still have an 8.8 rear?

My rear end

Here is a shot of my 2001 F-150 w/5.4 and 9.75" axle.

All F-150's with 5.4 have a 9.75, except 7700#, that has 10.25".

Pony,

All the F-150's 4x4 have 8.8 reverse cut front differential. And be carefull backing up. You don't want to run over Raoul's goat.

Definately don't what that to happen. Raoul's already plotting against me, my goat told me so.

What's the 7700# option? Is that like a heavy duty tow package or something?

Ah Grasshopper, but I was talking REAR axles. Nobody ever looks longingly at the FRONT end of a goat. Ask Raoul.

It's getting very confusing about what the facts are and who said what.

(this is how the Republicans got re-elected ya' know)
