what brand of spark plugs?
what brand of spark plugs?
I have a 01 Scab and have already 62,000 miles on it and I have been wanting to change the spark plugs, however, what brand would be recommended for a little more cleaner burn than just the stock motorcraft ones? any advice would help, thanks

If you don't mind paying a little extra, I'd go with Denso Iridium's. IMO there as good as you can get as far as quality goes. If the price turns you off, I'd stick with the stock motorcraft plugs. About the only plugs I've heard of anyone reporting problems with are the Bosch +3's, and there are several that have used those aswell with no problems.
Check with Mike Troyer (Superchips Distributer) in the superchips forum or at (540) 862-9515. I replaced my plugs, wires, and coil packs at the same time, and honesty do no remember exactly what I paid for the plugs alone. You may want to consider replacing all three at the same time aswell just to cover the entire ignition system while your already at it. I believe I later saw where Autozone carried the Denso Iridium's aswell.

I do know that NSK makes a good plug also. They are a copper plug, so you would have to change them every 30,000 again. They worked well in my N/A mustang GT though, it had a 4.6 in it. I believe that I used a NSK-6
edit: NGK not NSK.

Some people remove the fuel rail to get better access to the plug holes, but others say you dont have to...I guess it just depends
As for removing the intake elbow, make sure you have a 5/16 socket, several different extensions, as well as a 10mm deep socket. I would also get a long 5/16 in combo wrench, a few cans of intake cleaner (I would say 3 or so), and you should be good to go...do a search, there's a few threads on it here.
Here's a link to another website, this is the process on a 4.6L, it's pretty similar on the 5.4:
