troyer p e fan Q"

i am looking at perchacing the t.p. deul 16" e fan in like 2 weeks and i would just like to hear the pros and cons of doing this from you guys out there running this setup, i am doing this because when i visit my folks in arizona 100%+ temp i notice a big loss in power caused by the clutch fan being on, 2nd i would like to be able to turn it off on water and mud crossing, 3rd i love HP and modding my truck, so feedback would be helpfull i know this has been brought up before in other posts i just didnt get all the info i wanted, thanks in advance.

The pros are numerious. Like the small boost in throttle response. Much cleaner and roomier engine compartment. Better A/C performance. ( especally at Idle) The dual fan/ dual controller set up is superior to both fans running off same controller. Did have a controller malfunction and having the other fan working saved me from major meltdown. The cons are the way that the Troyer fans are attached through the Rad. with rods and grommets. Would have prefered having them in a frame that attached to the rad. at its mounting points. Electrical connectors supplied are strange. Butt connectors too small for wire size, eye connectors not big enouch to fit over suggested mounting points. Overall I think it is still a great modification and this kit is a little better than some I have seen. I would not hesitate to invest in it agian.

hey pestco1 does it look like i could fabricate something so it mounts to the stock fan shroud mounting points or do i have to use the bushing and rods, i do alot of offroading i dont want those rods to hurt my radiator do you think this would be a problem?

Rods were surprisingly solid in the radiator i don't think it would be a problem. Fabbing something could work if you make a frame for them that would bolt where your shroud did. but using the stock shroud might be harder that just doing it from scratch!

Here is how I have mounted one of mine.

It is held against the rad in only two places, one top and one bottom

Here is a close up. The one on the left uses the copper rods

I also have 3 switches. 1 is a master kill that turns off both fans. Actually it disables the power to the controllers. The other two switches individually turn on each fan using sepreate relays.
I have beat the shït out of the truck and so far they have not let me down. I play off road and I also like to turn them off in the water. But I also like to be able to turn them on if I need to.

What is MPG? I stopped measuring when I figured out that following Neal the HP freak around Windsor was getting me 10 mpg in the city.

Here is my theory on MODS. If you increase the power of your engine then you will need less throttle to maintain the same RPM. Ie. Stock; 2000 rpm 3rd gear = 40% throttle. With some mods the same rpm requires 35% throttle. Your throttle is opening 5% less so it is consuming less gas.

My gas milage stayed the same w/ the E-fans. The mounting system is solid, no problem there. I just would have prefered to not have to push rods through the rad core. that is about the only real beef I have with this fan set up. I did have a controller go bad. Mike says it is a one in a million occurance. Was johnny on the spot with a replacement. Set it priority ups and I was good as new in just a couple of days. Diff. a great organization to deal with!!
