Thumbs up Foam

Decided to foam my 03 F150 after reading this post today. Was kind of skeptical since I only have a little over 27k miles on it. When I started it after putting the foam in man it smoked like a ****. Runs a little smoother now and I will see if it effects the mpg. Think I will be foaming about every three oil changes or so.

First off - WOW and THANK YOU ALL who posted any info at all about the seafoam product. I have a 1999 Ford F150 4x4 with 66k miles, i like to think i keep my truck in fairly good mechanical shape - but for the past few months, i've noticed a few "sputters" or "misses" while im given 'er gas going from 10-30.

I was already making plans to take my truck to a mechanic this weekend (im not very motor savy, sorry) and have them take a look at it (ouch, at the very least $100 bucks).

I did a few searches and eventually found this thread - i figured a $4 pcv valve and $4 seafoam stuff would be a good start. And since everyone who posted had something positive to say about the results, i was pretty excited and wanted to rush home from work to try it this evening -

WELL it WORKED!! a combo of changing out the pcv valve (located on the passenger side towards the back for 1999 f150) and this sea foam stuff brought my truck back to excellent health. I havent heard my truck idle so smoothly, i used to hear rattling from this or that because of the rougher then usual idle,,,, and pick up and excellaration is waay smoother now. It was a great feeling knowing i did this work myself (with the help of everyone who posted here).

Thumbs up

Well, you made a believer out of me! I bought the Seafoam and just poured the whole bottle in my tank with a fill-up. Drove it some this evening, and I have to say it's almost as though I put a new engine in my truck. It idles smoother, picks up better, even shifts better! Of course, I didn't put any of it through the vacuum as has been suggested, but I figured I would probably wait until I put a few more miles on it before I do that...maybe at 50k. Of all the fuel system treatments out there, I'd say this is probably one of the best.

Ok, I admit it, I have been dragging my feet. I have not “used” any sea foam, I did talk my brother into a can for the 84 caddy Deville I sold him. I drove the caddy, wow it did help. We have been having “an alleged” water in our fuel, here in Bloomington, Indiana. Seems that we can only put our gas stations in low level areas. I believe that it dried the fuel, and cleaned up the motor. He says it has really helped his MPG. “We” have not put any in the vacuum lines, it’s on the list. I will buy some tomorrow, but I have done the ACETONE thing and kind of wondering about the mixture of the two in the gas or combustion chambers? Paranoia is standard in our family tree.. do I need to be worried? anyone...?

PS: I wonder if I well see a thread, LOST MY WIFE, but dagum, my truck runs better *love the sea foam\wife stories

Seafoam smokes because of the chemicals it has! It is marketing at it's best. Just because it smokes does not mean it is cleaning anything.

Instead of treating a problem....PREVENT IT!

Run Fuel Power by www.lubecontrol.com and keep carbon / varnish away. Fuel Power has a large following over at BITOG many SeaFoam users have made the switch.

Treat your fuel and prevent problems!

02f150-If seafoam smokes because of the chemicals, why doesn't everyones truck smoke who ran seafoam through it? What about seafoam in the crank case?

I would like to know if there have been any improvment in gas milage with seafoam.

de ja vu

SO far after a full week, here's my results (coming from a non-mechanic) its still to early im thinking to give an update on gas mileage. I dont put many miles on my truck.

fyi: I tried this on my 1999 F150 v6 4.2 4x4 because it was idleing rough which made the truck loud in a negative way, also because i noticed some slight jerking when steppen on it and going from 10-30 mph.

:I Seafoam'd her up, waited 25 minutes and:
>>. as soon as i waited the 25 minutes, fired her up, let her sit for a few, smoked some but not a whoooole lot and it wasn't too thick,, then took her on the street i noticed an improvement in acceleration, the truck was quieter (didn't hear stuff rattling from the rough idleing), and so far im still seeing the results.

I understand that i _should_have_ and very easily _could_have_ prevented the state my truck was in, but thats niether here nor there.

Going on forward, i was looking for a solution to fix my current problem and put a plan in place to prevent these symptoms from popping up in my truck again,,,

And so far Seafoam has put my truck back on track, and along with the other tips i have found on these forums will help my truck last another 66k easily.

BTW - i can honestly say my truck hasn't driven this smooth and hummed this soundly since i first bought her off the show room floor in Terrel Texas 4 years ago.

You are a terrible man Red. LOL! I'll see if I can sucker my wife into standing there during fire up. She always wants to "help" me do things. This ought to cure that need once and for all!

I've seen SeaFoam at nearly every Autoparts Store in town as well as at Wal-Mart.

It shouldn't be difficult to find.

Did the seafoam in the Screw yesterday, no smoke. I was kinda hoping to see smoke billowing out that would make and Econazi cry. I put 5-6 ounces (I think) through the brake booster line and some in the crank case. I even put some in the gas tank, we'll see if I went overboard. I should be gettign the oil changed tomorrow even though it's brand new. I also have to get a fuel line fixed too as someone buggered the old on in front of the filet...any idea how much that'll run?
