Ford F-150 lariat timing chain
All
I am a new member to this site but I have a big problem with Ford. At 86000 miles my timing chain skipped and according to the dealer my entire engine needed to be rebuilt. The engine was maintained and running fine until a noise started in the engine. Now a whining type noise has developed when accelerating. I took it to the dealer and same dealer that did the rebuild. They put new tires on and said they drove it extensively and they could not reproduce the noise. As soon as I picked it up the noise continued. I went back picked up the mechanic and before getting on the highway I was able to reproduce the sound. I am would trade it in for a chevy or Toyota but the truck was a gift from my wife and she is upset and I owe money on it. I feel like ford should make good on this documented problem and the dealer should be embarrassed. There is no way they did not hear the sound. Didn't we as taxpayers bail them out once. I have spent almost $10,000 on this truck. Ford tough?? 86000 on an engine?? Any advice.

engine and Year
Ford received money (almost 6 billion) from Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF), a low interest bank loan to avoid bankruptcy. Ford finance received 13.9 billion with the condition of fast tracking electric cars like a subsidy. These loans were government issued and create the appearance that Ford didn't receive a bailout because they weren't part of TARP.
The truck is a 2011 f150 lariat 3.5 liter v6 ecoboost.

My wife gave me the truck as a birthday gift so there is the sentimental value and my remaining payments were higher than my trade in value before the engine rebuild, which according to two dealerships was the solution to the timing chain jumping. The damage from the timing chain caused a check engine lite and an obvious noise from the engine which would have devalued the truck even more on a trade in. So I was stuck fixing the truck. Does that clear that part of the post up? I think the bottom line is there is a documented problem with the timing chain that ford is satisfying and letting the problem fall on the consumer. Does anyone disagree that you should get more than 90,000 miles on a truck that isn't used for anything but transportation?
