Cause we were talking about new trucks when he was looking around and i let him take my truck for a few hours.. He came back and really liked it.. Just wanted the v8 sound. He knows ive had great luck with all my fords so decided to try the f150.. Guess he just got a lemon.

Hmm . . . well that sucks that we could've gotten a fresh convert and he got a potentially bad one.

I'd be really PO if I had a new vehicle making such sounds. Or it had other problems.
My experience, I had two GM in a row that were lemons. And Ford having issues as well. I think you make too many excuses for Detroit built vehicles. If you paid a lot of money for a Swiss built watch and it was not functioning properly you'd take it back demanding a refund. And so it should be with vehicles. There is absolutely no reason that with proper design and quality control that a vehicle should not last the expected under lemon law, 120K miles, doing routine maintenance and normal use.

....And the vast majority of them do. Which is pretty amazing considering how fa-reaking many of these things get pooped outa the factories every hour. That is a testament to the worthiness of the intended design, overall. In my view.

Yer preachin' to the choir, bud. Nothing on this earth is perfect - especially those things created by man. Not even those things created by the Imaginary Friend. And the underpaid drones who toss these things together in between coffee & smoke breaks and the alleged QA 'inspectors' who call it good. And the after-sales support is still as atrocious as it has always been.

To coin a military phrase, "No design survives first contact with the Unions"

Compound this with the fact that a forum is, basically a community of complainers and that the mod-happy end-user is just as culpable, with his/her/it's frenzy to make 'improvements'. When, in point of fact, the opposite usually occurs, because they mostly have NF Clue of what they are doing or of the attendant consequences.

All they know is how to complain... and how to deny responsibility for thier actions when things inevitably go south. .... well suck it up.

Cheers

MGD, that post should be made into a sticky! If I wasn't at work right now I'd crack open a MGD as tribute.

That sounded like a magazine article or something! It was a good one.

But did you really just refer to God as "the Imaginary Friend?"

I was only gonna ask why you bothered to capitalize Imaginary Friend

I believe in live and let live, no preaching. But you now automatically assume I'm out to get ya, so you write big paragraphs defending yourself

I totally agree! The 4.6 in my Vic & the 5.4 in my truck are going nowhere!

If you fly, which I do, those lycoming engines are awesome. I added a quart every 5 hours; we all did and we keep oil in the plane and check it every time we fuel and every time before start up.

I am not sure what a normal oil burn on a 5.0, 3.5, 3.7 or 6.2 is, but that seems worth investigating.
