The first and third videos sound pretty bad, especially the first one - that's terrible! But I'd still rely on a 5.0 over the EB, even if it isn't perfect

That second video sounds just like my 5.4!

I can swear I have a diesel under there at some times -_-

I also can't believe we are being so harsh on each other with FORD engines none the less

Coy,

At no point did I ever say the 5.0 was perfect. Any engine is susceptible to various failures or issues depending upon conditions, maintenance, wear, etc.

I see you added a few videos in order to validate your point. (I'm still confused as to why you're trying to validate a point with which I agree ) I feel certain that there are quit a few videos expressing EB issues on the intorwebs, too. But I won't post them. This ain't a pissin' contest about which engine has the most issues, for cryin' out loud.

For me, what gets old is generalizing all engines (one way or the other) with a few apparently isolated incidents. For example, the OP said he traded for a 5.0, and the very first thing you mention is that he'd better keep an eye on his oil level....as if to say, since it's a 5.0, it will get dangerously low on oil?

See? Generalization. That's the part that gets old for me. I've said it many, many times before, but here goes again....IMHO, Ford has done a fantastic job with all the available engines for the F150s.

By the way, your neighbor that hates his 5.0? If he gets a 2014 Silverado, I hope his is better than the rental I had for a few days. I had the 2014 with the "improved" V8, and I wouldn't take two of those trucks for my truck. There are several reasons for my opinion here, but the first thing I noticed about the Silverado was the lack of "go" when pressing the "go" pedal. Sure, the published power numbers are close to the 5.0, but for whatever reason, it has a very hard time putting power to the ground. Just

Yea, i know.. I Was just trying to be honest on what i know bout the 5.0 which was the burning oil and the ticking but i guess its "normal" and of course it turned into the typical ecobust vs 5.slow

Once again i didnt say it would get low on oil, just said to keep a eye on it cause they are known to burn oil and thats the truth.. Will all the trucks burn oil? No, but the majority i bet does..Ive read numerous threads since the 11 models about the oil consumption and my personal experience.

I betcha if there was a thread that popped up here about which to motor to get you would point out the intercooler problems with the ecoboost just like i will point out oil consumption on the v8..

Nothing against you or your truck after all you have one of the best looking trucks on this site and i could only wish that my truck would look like yours

Coy, out of curiosity (and I know I'm going to regret this), by what means has your neighbor deduced his truck is a "POS"? What issues has he had?

I appreciate the compliment, Coy. And please, don't take anything I've said personally. You know I'm an ****-hole, and you've been around long enough to know when I'm being an ****-hole or just talking.

As you know, there have been WAAAAAAYYYY too many "EB or 5.0" threads here. I've always stated my opinion on my 5.0 based upon my experience of owning one, but I can't recall beating on the EB just for the sake of beating on it. In fact, IIRC these types of threads are where I usually say something like "they're both great engines so it's hard to go wrong either way".

Coolant puking out of the overflow, chriping sound while at idle, when you cut the wheels all the way to the left while making a turn it pops and a sloppy shifting transmission.

I told him to take it back for a transmission reflash but he was told it was up to date on everything.

He traded in a 09 silverado for it and according to him it had 90,000 trouble free miles.

Nothing personal about it .. Ill start slowing down on the 5.0 comments just seems like good pay back for when the eb bashing was taking place (not talking about you) plus its kinda fun sometimes to ruffle feather's on the v8 guys

Oh that's right...I remember about the coolant puking now. What did the dealer say about that? I googled that a couple weeks back and found nothing.

The chirp, I've heard 5.0 fellers talk about that here and there, but I haven't heard of a resolution. What was the dealer's take on that?

The transmission issue could very well just be the slip yoke issue for which there is a TSB. I can't recall the TSB number, but I asked my dealer about it when it cropped up in my truck, and they knew all about it and fixed it right up. No issues since.

If the dealer he uses doesn't cooperate, he can always try another dealer. Although, that's no fun either, I realize that.

Dealer has no clue on the overflow, they checked the front end 3 different times and cant find anything, same thing with the chirping.

Only thing about another dealer is we live in a somewhat small west Texas town and the next closest dealer is in Midland a couple hours away and he doesn't want to make the trip. Im thinking it would be best to trade it in for a new silverado since he is 100 percent GM person.

Ive never really had a problem with our local dealership and they have always done me right when it comes to sales and service with my vehicles, so i dont know if they are giving him the run around or just have no clue how to fix the problems

I guess I'm one of the few that got a better deal on a ecoboost than the 5 liter. I was about to get the 5.0 until I noticed my Eco right next to it, the 5.0 had the standard radio no fancy computer on the instrument cluster and a couple other things that it was missing. Got my truck for 1200 less than I could get the other truck for

If that were the case, I wonder why he even bought an F150 in the first place, especially when the 2014 Chebbies were already out soon to be.
