Turbo exhaust size

Can one have too big of an exhaust on a turbo vehicle? Specifically the Ecoboost F-150. I'm planning on installing a 4" system, (modifying the y pipe), but thought I'd ask first. The headpipes from the turbos/cats are 2 1/2", so the rest of the system needs to be at least 3 1/2" single pipe to equal that. Seems to me one would want the least restriction possible downstream of the turbos/cats. Please correct me if I'm mistaken, I have no previous experience with turbos.

4" is great on a diesel, I would go no bigger then 3" on your truck

Two exhaust manufacturers now have shown at least a 30rwhp gain from just a 4" catback on this truck. I'm not sure what adding or changing the Y pipe would do, but one company already makes one of those as well.

Turbo's themselves ARE the restirction or backpressure in the exhaust. The more open and free flowing you can make it after that, the better. To a point of course

4" is perfect for the EB. I would stay away from going any bigger.

Turbo's are electronically controlled. Changing exhaust will not overspeed or whatever you said to the turbos. Whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about.

Adding a catback exhaust is not going to blow a turbo. I've been building and working on turbo cars for 10+ years. It won't happen.

This. Especially on a modest 5lbs of boost.

5lbs? Am I missing something? Stock boost is 13 or so and will spike up to as high as 15 or 16 sometimes. I must be reading something wrong?

Have a 4" on mine, it is great. And no, changing an exhaust has no affect on the warranty for the vehicle.
