I am in the same boat with the rest of the bad gas mileage people. Mine suffers, I drive I baby mine, and mixed highway and city, prob 30%highway 70% city, I am averaging 13.9mpg. I will idle for ones stop light and can see the mileage go down for that little bit of time. It's horrible. I have about 5600 miles on the truck.

I towed my boat quite a bit in summer. And recently for winterization. How long does it remember your driving.

You have the same truck as someone I know, and he gets 14.0 in similar driving. He loves everything else about the truck but is very disappointed in the mpg.

Where do you live? My personal theory is Ford trucks really suffer from low energy content 'clean' fuel, like I get in California. The folks that get good mileage usually live in areas that don't have air quality issues, and they are burning fuel with more energy per gallon.

For that much city driving, depending on the city, that's normal, doubly so if your commute is short like mine. I get 14mpg in Austin gridlock, the MPGs are up though when I'm traveling long distance on the highway though.

70% city 30% highway and Im showing 16.3 currently on normal driving without staring at the mpg computer as I accelerate. Hand calculated the last 3 tanks and 15.2-15.6 was the average. Truck is FX4 with 3.73s and only addition is a K&N filter. 1400 miles on the truck.

I was over at Ford yesterday getting service done on my truck and was shooting the breeze with a salesman. He told me this - he had a customer with an Ecoboost complaining about bad gas mileage. The customer was talking about a buyback so the salesman hopped in the truck with the customer and drove it out to the Interstate to take videos of the MPG meter and speedometer with his phone for documentation. He set the cruise at 60, and the meter read 22. Kicked it up to 70, and it read 20. Dropped it to 50, and it read 24. Customer couldn't believe it and started whining that something was wrong.

What does this mean? I'd say that the EB is very sensitive to driving habits. FYI, all gas here is E10.

The little engine is very sensitive to being warmed up and naturally wind resistances. Follow a river valley down hill withits flow and watch the gas mileage really climb with 100 miles trip.

100% agree. Everyone gets in these things and "drives easy" and still gets bad gas mileage. The problem is "YOU" the trucks dont have a nickles worth of difference from the factory. They should all be capable of the same fuel mileage, the only difference is the way they drive.

In addition to thw way you drive it is highly dependent on local roads driven, weather and quality of fuel in the area.

I read somewhere not to expect mileage to improve until you have gone about 4K. Speculation was the computer was programmed that way. That's exactly what happened to me. Up to 4K I saw 16-18, then it jumped to 18-20 for the same conditions. I asked the Ford mechanic, he said he didn't know but it sounded reasonable. I bought it in Feb and hit 4K about April. It's now Nov and I'm suddenly down to 16-18 again. Short trips in cold weather really kills mileage. I think it is sensitive to cold starts and fuel change as much as anything. I'd like for that not to happen, but take solice in knowing that the Tacoma I replaced got the exact same mileage and it was literally 1/2 the truck this is.

U could add a bllock heater to get faster warm up times and better cold weather startups. Probably re-coop the block heater investment in a year or so. I noticed the tail of one out the front of a new 2012 heading for Canada.

Short trips brutally murder the Ecoboost's fuel economy. My Round trip commute is six miles and I hate having to drive my F150 for it because it's such a short distance. I mostly drive my Crown Vic to and from work. The other night I had to run a friend over to the Chevy house to pick up his Cobalt from service. As I drove in 5:30 Austin gridlock the MPGs actually climbed. By the time I got to my buddy's place I was at 15.7mpg after my 1hr 16 mile trip.
